It's a bit easier to move with intention playing on controller, but aiming your punches is harder.
Standard controls are passable, and might even be good if you start with them and stay with them, though.

As someone who's been using non-motion contols since day 1 I can attest that they're fine. Motion controls allow you to do a wide grab but people found out that's possible without motion as well. "Increased accuracy" is a meme, all arms but one have a built in tracker that naturally hones in on the opponent, so it's not like you'll be missing.
The game is plenty fun, give it a shot.

Mario Kart is an established evergreen franchise, as is Animal Crossing. Splatoon was bolstered by its constant content updates and Splatoon 2 is too new for us to fully say how successful of a sequel it is.

ARMS is a new IP, so we won't know just how successful it is until around 6 months from now to see if there's still demand for it. Don't get me wrong, I want ARMS to succeed, I'm just saying that good numbers within the launch window don't really tell us anything other than the initial marketing worked.
