those flying fuckers... I swear to god, I hate them with every fiber of my being. the fuckers are nearly indestructible, with only short window to throw bombs, you need at least two people (or burn bomb launcher) to bring them down quickly, otherwise you'll have to wait (and burn ink) for next open window, you need to get close to throw the bombs and you can't clear your way there easily or else you won't have enough ink left. And those fuckers can attack from any point on map, so when two or 3 come at once from different directions you're basically fucked.

I'm about to go out tomorrow to buy a Switch + Splatoon 2. Question/s before I do:
1. I heard that wifi fucks with the joycon's connectivity, and that Splatoon suffers heavily if you have lag; if I'm an Ausfag is it worth spending the extra $40 for a Switch ethernet adapter?
2. Split joycons is apparently the best way to play but if I'm using gyroscopic aiming is it a bad idea to try and play the game at my computer desk on a 23" 2nd screen? Do you need a lot of room to be doing that?
3. On that note, I'll be connecting the Switch to my monitor (which doesn't have audio-out); if the Switch is in docked mode and connected via HDMI does it still output audio through the headphone slot? Because I'll need that connect it to my speakers.

I didn't have any problem with joycons, but then again, I play on monitor not TV so I sit considerably closer to the docked Switch. I did have a problem with Switch wifi itself tho, but that's been resolved by moving the dock a bit closer to the router (which was in different room).

That's how I play. I mean all except the split joycons and slightly larger monitor. I couldn't get used to split joycons so I played normally, and 2 days ago I also bought Pro Controller, so far it's great.

You seem to be confused about how gyro works. This is a completely different mechanism compared to the Wii pointer, which you seem to be expecting. Your tv size and where you sit do not affect it at all. It is simply a mouse that uses rotational motion rather than translation. You rotate the controller X degrees and the game turns you Y degrees. That ratio of X to Y will be the same regardless of your setup and can be adjusted in the settings. Also, I prefer non-split because the joy cons are a bit small and it is uncomfortable to reach the analog. Using two hands also feels more stable.

So, Ink Resistance Up says 'reduces damage taken' and 'improves mobility when walking through enemy ink'. Is it actually doing both of those? Does it up your damage resistance or is it saying that it reduces damage from walking through enemy ink?

Yes. Yes and no. You now have the ability to 'scrub' your gears sub slots. Scrubbing the slots will give you Chuncks for those ablilites which you can later use to put that specific perk onto a piece of gear. So RNG early on, with more control down the line.

Kind of? There's still a randomness element to it, but you can pay to remove the sub abilities from your gear and turn them into "chunks". 10 chunks of the same kind will let you put that ability onto any piece of gear.

No. But there is a Bomb Defense perk to protect against bombs, and Object Shredder to deal more damage to non-player objects like the Rainmaker shield or Beakons.

Nani. I still run it. I can't give up my Red Hi-ops. I can't believe I played all the way up till Splatoon 2's release and missed something major like that.
On a side note, it really seems like the devs are going out of their way to make sure no single ability becomes meta, I know Splatoon 1 had almost everyone running either Attack/Defense Up, Ink Res, Quick Resapwn or Stealth Jump, and all of these have been nerfed, or just cut from the game. I think only Quick Respawn+Stealth Jump spam on Tower still works and even then, the enemy can see the jump marker when close enough. I hope they continue to balance weapons. Octobrush feels too strong at the moment.

The specials are less powerful this time, so special charge up, tenacity, and special power up also feel like a bit of a waste.

I think it's okay, but it's super narrow. It's a lot easier to get shut down because you only have to control a couple of short, thin paths to do it. Ambushing weapons get shafted a fair bit because it's so hard to sneak up on people or come from the side, and if one team pushes well enough, they get a big open area with an elevated platform close to your spawn to set up shop in and you're forced to fight tooth and nail through more narrow hallways to get halfway out of your own spawn.

The only ranked mode I've played on it is rainmaker, but it is exceptionally easy for your team to get locked in the base unable to even get to the pedestal because of how its designed. I don't know any other maps where the enemy team can take such decisive control over such an important area so easily.

Rainmaker variant also has a sponge near the elevated platform close to the base, don't know about the other version. I think that's pretty dumb, because they get access to that platform now for controlling the open section, I think the only path up should be on your team's side.

It's good in turf war because it excels in covering turf thanks to high spread and rate of fire. But when it comes to splatting enemies, the low range and the high spread cripple it, and it loses out to a lot of weapons, even other close-range weapons, where you'd think something like it should do well. For reference, if you open up the menu and go over to Status, and then Ability, every ability there that doesn't have a tally (*x0) of how many chunks you have for it is ONLY a main ability, and you will never be able to roll it onto an item that doesn't already have it as its main ability. Is anyone else disappointed as hell by the Sunken Scrolls this time around?
In Splatoon 1, almost all of it was dedicated to lore and world building, with only 1 being an ad for Booyah Base.
In Splatoon 2, half of it is ads for things we already know about, and some of it is just random tidbits. The only real lore ones are the Salmon Run and Judd ones. They didn't even try to explain how Marina got accepted into Inkling society so easily.

The octobrush kills in 4 shots from the distance the dualies can shoot. If the dualies roll backwards then they cant hit the octobrush either. There is no a lot longer with the octobrush they either kill you in 3 or 4 shots from any range they can hit that's why they are so good at any level. They are even good against midrange weapons because of how many corners are in these maps compared to the first.

I really hate what they did with Haunt.

Before, it was supportive, you could warn your team mates about someone who splatted you, which was really useful on Ranked battles.

Now, it's useless, since it only tells you only. And it doesn't even give you their position, it just allows you to see them for a short period if they are in front of you.

that's not a picture of the octobrush though. The trislosher has to aim and make sure they aren't in the deadzones between the three angles. It also has one of the slowest kill speeds at 38 frames to kill. The octobrush kills in 17 frames. Most splattershots kill in 18 frames. The only non charge weapons that kill slower slower are the rapid blaster and the sloshing machine.

Octobrush has a huge area of affect, and does massive damage to everything in it's radius. Couple that with being able to kill things at around the same speed as the Splattershot, potentially the best bomb in the game, and a very powerful special and you have all the ingredients for a perfect crutch.
The real kicker is that it requires ZERO AIMING. If something is in your general front, you can kill it

I really don't understand why the octobrush doesn't have the same damage falloff that the inkbrush has. The inkbrush is punished incredibly hard for not being in melee range. The octobrush is rewarded for standing 2 lines away because it give their attack hitbox triple the width at the cost of only one extra swing. When Inkbrush is at max range they need to do 3 extra swings and their max range is only 2/3 of the octobrush.

You can use the octobrush as a more accurate aerospray because the rng bullets don't exist and it's just guaranteed damage.
