What is the most overrated X game?

I see a lot of praise for X3, but I think it's the worst one outside of X7. Also I feel like X5 gets treated pretty unfairly. It's not great but it's not as bad as X6 or X7.

It's absolutely X4. It's not very good, people just like it because of the cringey cutscenes and the fact that it concentrates so heavily on their waifu, Zero.

The SNES X games.

The X series gets worse as it goes along, until X8 which is slightly better than X7.

The last three are remarkably terrible.

Probably X4, though it's still my favorite of the PS1 games. That isn't saying much though.

As soon as you learn what Slash Dash cancelling is, every single game with Zero in it becomes worthless to play.

You just obliterate everything in the entire game, it's not even hard to do.

I love the music, the bosses and visuals. But yeah, the level design is pretty bad.

There's a reason why X4 is overrated just saying

I grew up on the game, it was my first Megaman, I still love it to death, but it really is X4. Holding it up to a more critical eye it's solid but it's no X1 or X2. That said, it might be the next best game in the series because honestly the X series is overrated as a whole. Enjoyable, but overrated.

The giant red WARNING text before bosses that's completely pointless, voice acting, an even heavier focus on plot than X1-3, and it marked the turning point when the series ceased being about X and became The Zero Show: featuring Mega Man from the Mega Man series.

Not that anon but the shift from SNES to PS1 slowed the pacing down some and the pre-rendered backgrounds never really matched the actual boundaries of the platforms so the artstyle was a minor detriment to the gameplay.

X1 is a masterpiece and calling it the most overrated of its series is basically avoiding to look at the bigger picture.

X2 was a really solid sequel and introduced cool key features like Double Buster, Air Dash and Giga Attack.

X3 introduced an even stronger Armor, a chip system, ride armor (which increased the number of unlockables) and the first Zero appearance as a playable character (as an X clone)

X4 perfected Zero's gameplay

And the rest doesn't get as much praise as these 4. When looking at these 4, the weakest entry is X3 because of its subpar level design and its amount of unlockables that can't be played with properly (How often did ride armors come up? Who likes the Cross Buster? Why is Zero so incomplete gameplay-wise?).
