I really loved this game but it got super hard on the last couple chapters. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong but I couldn't last an entire dungeon. Put it down and didn't come back...i should pick it up it is flashy as fuck and I need some weeb love

It is complicated, but you can ignore most of the sub-surface systems and it just works out for a normal playthrough. The great parts of the game are the pretty good but quirky writing, well put together cutscenes, and interesting battle mechanics.

last remnant's complexity is stupidly overrated on here thanks to one sperg exaggerating out his bunghole. PC version fixes a shit ton of issues the console version had, namely grinding yourself into a corner. it's all but impossible to do that on PC.

as for complexity yeah there's a ton of classes and they don't tell you how to get them but basically you get better at the skills you use and you change class depending on those skills. if you want to dual-wield, equip two weapons. if you want to mage, cast magic. if you want to autistically adjust everything perfectly, spend a couple hours poring over the wiki. you'll still probably beat it either way.

You can one shot bandits right out of the gate with throw blasts or dragons spit - not that you need to fight bandits that early on anyway. The only way it would take 30 hours to get strong enough to take on bandits of all things would be for you to leave the game on for over a day straight without actually playing it.

I'd hardly call DD overrated. There aren't THAT many threads on it and half of the posters are people bitching about the first hour or two of gameplay without actually learning how to play the game.

Play as anything. Yellow vocations are the most fun for me, with Magic Archer being at the top. Your characters stats are not nearly as important as your weapons and tactics, so try everything out.

Just know that every class kind of sucks at the start. By around vocation rank 5 or so you'll actually have a full skill set and a decent number of skills leveled up to rank 2. The extra boost is actually a pretty big deal, so just because a skill seems underwhelming at first doesn't always mean it isn't worth your time.

To be fair, AC3 got gimped hardcore in the international releases. Almost every Ace Combat fan can tell you that. It did get a translation relatively recently, so now you don't have to understand Japanese to experience the story routes. I really enjoy the feel of the world.

Yeah it's nowhere near as good as Persona 5 and the battle system in a blatant copy of Tales. But it's still enjoyable with it's storyline and characters having heart and enduring-ness, even though confusing at times.

Also I want Kotomi to crush my balls as she calls me pathetic.

Resonance of Fate deserves props if only for being one of the few PS3 games with a unique UI for the save menu. Along with everything else about the game being really good, that one little touch shows that the devs really cared. Like, this is a JRPG by and for people who love JRPGs.

I'm playing FFXII:TZA and it triggers my autism hardcore that it uses the PS4's shitty default UI.
