I do think it's the worst Metroidvania in the franchise but I still got a lot of enjoyment out of it.

But best Ludovania
A so so Castlekino, however.
>>385167936
It's not amazing but it's still pretty good.

Is this skeleton a meme now?
I keep seeing him shooped in different games.

It's fine to want weeb art but at least it could have been quality animu art
That and the one from pos literally look like deviant art beginner tier trash
>>385167936
I'm playing all of them. Beat 1, skipped 2, Got to Dracula with III, beat Rondo of Blood and SonT, I want to jump to AoS but someone said I should play them in release order so I'm playing Moon first. Should I skip Harmony? I here it has TWO Castles!
>>385169774
TWO CASTLES???
>>385169671
>I still don't get what the fuck where they thinking
Castlevania games do not sell, especially in Japan. For them, this is a budget series that's a bit obscure. They wanted to boost sales. Time for experiment with anime style for the weebs and kids.
I'm the anon who said he didn't really use souls very often last night.
Acting upon your comments, I decided not to buy shit from Hammer (except potions) and just use what I found.
I'm honestly having more fun this way, since I'm using more equipment.
I'm still kinda being stingy with soul usage though. I think it's hard-wired into me at this point, though I am using them more. Since I found the Rune Ring I broke out Creaking Skull and have been pummeling shit left and right.
Also I'm doing a Skeleton Soul Only Run.
So, thanks for those comments.
So I started CoM after I beat AoS and while it's not too bad I hope to god that HoD plays a bit more smoother than this.
>>385169671
Was AoS the last game Kojima worked on as an artist?

>>385169983
No, because she returned for Harmony of Despair.I think.
>>385169774
SotN, AoS and DoS are considered the "golden" trilogy. They're all also loosely connected.
>>385170480

>>385170654
>preferred the latter
STOP HAVING DIFFERENT OPINIONS
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>385170826
Inverted Castle and backtracking through uninteresting corridors filled with nothing but enemies alongside being insultingly easy held back SotN in my opinion and AoS fixed all those issues more or less.
>>385170239
No, Harmony does not have good movement at all. Dashing doesn't translate momentum into your jumps (as opposed to the Mega Man X and Zero games which do it right). Juste's jumps also feel floaty and awkward, and his super-jump inexplicably reverts back to the weird input from Symphony.
>>385170981
Everyone who values gameplay the most thinks that.
>>385170654
DoS is pretty much "more of the same, but bigger."
As for Julius mode, there isn't. DoS also has a Julius mode but you have three characters to play as instead of one.
>>385169924
Is not using souls the same mindset as preserving potions until boss fights?

I use potions everywhere but boss fights.

SotN is incredibly easy to break even without it. The combat knife, fist weapons, and holy water are just too fucking ridiculous.
>>385167936
All memes aside people fucking jerk the cock of Circle of the Moon because of muh difficulty and because it was the first castlevania they played
>>385171258
>"more of the same, but bigger."
Intersting, I get the feel from lurking in these threads that most people still prefer AoS to it. Guess I'll try it out, does it play fine on an emulator? I remember someone complaining about having to draw or something for bosses.
>>385171745
His is boobooo this is the real kind.
Post superbosses
>>385171879
It's not even that difficult, just clunky. I'm playing through it for the first time right now.
>>385171808
Yet you can choose not to use the broken weapons.
>>385171884
It plays fine on emulators but the touch screen stuff is annoying with a mouse. If you're planning to emulate it definitely use the AR code that autocompletes seals after boss fights so they don't regain more of their health and prolong the fight because you weren't fast or precise enough due to using a mouse.
0201C5A8 E3A00000
You still have to draw the first part of the seals but it'll make your experience a lot more painless.
>>385171904

The best way of fighting him is to fly behind him and just punch him in the face. It might not be the fastest way, but it's definitely the most hilarious way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmbdEgQ-aUg
>>385171884
Bottom line is, the gameplay of AoS is faster than DoS
Your sword in AoS swings twice as fast as it does in DoS, and your movement is a lot more floaty, which makes DoS feel clunky altogether
I don't even remember if you get the black panther soul in DoS either, but that made AoS go from fast to turbo speed

>>385173623

AoS Death isn't exactly a total ball-buster (unless you're doing a fresh hard mode run and then he absolutely is) but that fight is easily trickier than any SotN fight. That's how bad Symphony's bosses are and how overpowered Alucard is.
>>385167936

I didn't find the Claimh room until after I had already beaten the game. Pretty cheeky of them to actually hide the actual reward of that place like that.
>>385174896
SotN isn't as easy as people make it out to be. Like the other guy said, as long as you don't farm for or make it a point to use broken equipment, bosses still put up a good fight.

>>385175138
Harmony is a far easier game. Aria and Dawn are equally easy.
>>385175508
Harmony is a mediocre game with weak bosses, terrible level design, and Zero difficulty. It's barely better than Mirror of Fate, let alone Symphony.
>>385175527
>Aria and Dawn are equally easy.
Name a boss in SotN harder and more hype than this.
>>385168886
Truly meme kino
>>385175148
You can break it just by finding crap laying around like the combat knife, jewel fist, shield rod, or holy water. I'm barely scratching the surface here as this isn't even the best stuff. Sure you can choose not to use it but having to purposely limit yourself just to make a game difficult means that it's a cakewalk normally.
Part of it has to do with the openness of the game I think. Because you can go to so many areas in whatever order you wish the bosses and enemies had to stay relatively weak as opposed to scaling properly in difficulty like they would in a more linear game. That or they could've been making up for how weak Alucard was in 3 by making him overpowered here.
>>385175527
>>385175617
>easier than recovering your entire health with Soulsteal while fucking destroying the boss with damage, as well as using elemental armor to become flat out immune to a ton of shit

being easy doesn't make it bad, though
it still has good area design, memorable dialogue, fantastic music, and really smooth gameplay
being able to chain back dashes and angle weapon attacks downwards and whatnot feels really satisfying, i can't think of a castlevania game where you're more mobile and fluid than you are in SotN. while there seems to be a lot of oversight when it comes to difficulty, the mechanics of the game feel really polished in a way that the later games don't. SotN is far from my favorite but it's definitely more well designed and fun to play than HoDand OoE

>>385175985
2 tries some new things that would later be refined in SotN and later games. Some things are good but a lot of it is iffy. It's worth checking out but you can also skip it entirely.
3 is one of the best games in the series. There are some notable differences between the JP version and the western one. The JP version has higher quality audio due to having 3 more sound channels to work with but whether you prefer the JP soundtrack to the US is a matter of opinion. The US version made several changes that make the game much harder than it already was such as making enemies in the later levels much stronger it also removes a checkpoint or two, a notable checkpoint that gets removed is the one right before the final boss. Play the JP version first and if you want to replay it with more challenge then definitely try out the US version too.
>>385176176

present in every other Metroidvania from AoS to OoE, CotM's stiffness and HoD's different movement (being way better to fight on the ground for once) are different design choices

>>385189565
all memes are forced now days. and memes before werent as natural as you think
>>385189674
No we get quality memes from time to time and they're not forced by definition. A forced meme is when a person or a very small group insist on shoving something as a "meme" but they're the only ones who end up using it and nobody else ever adopts it or finds it fun or makes sense of it.
There is absolutely no reason for a standard enemy from a Castlevania game to cause people to get so fucking hysterical, I mean with shit like "No way fag" even if I didn't think it was very fun I could see the appeal because of the whole comic and original drawing, but these creaking skull faggots are literally just laughing their asses off because some dude photoshop the enemy into another stage.
next forced meme is going to be some shit like using caps lock i nthe middle of a paragraph
>>385189565
>>385190106
the entire definition of meme is that it's forced.
there's no such thing as a meme that isn't forced.
>>385169248
>Old games with high res texture packs
>>385190250
no dumbass, the definition of a meme is an idea or behavior that spreads from person to person "virally".
A "forced meme" is when a small group of people plaster their "Meme" idea into a bunch of places, but never get any 3rd party source to keep replicating the meme outside of the original place
>>385190106
grats on knowing what a forced meme is. every meme is forced though, give one example of a non forced meme. what youre confusing is quality of memes (which really went downhill once they started to be called memes and became cancerous once meme culture exploded).
>>385190431
Like I said "No way fag" was a forced meme. Some dude created the comic, another dude shared it on /v/ in a RE4 thread, people external to those 2 dudes started replicating the comic outside of that thread, then new people get on board and before you know you got like 300 no way fag edits and a completely viral presence that's not only present in RE threads.
Now look at this creaking skull shit, it's literally just in castlevania threads and I'm 100% sure it's the same group of 5 people making a fuckload of "edits" (which just consist on pasting the monster in another stage, like "DUDE LMAO LOOK AT THIS THE CREAKING SKULL WHO WAS AT THE CASTLE'S ENTRANCE IS NOW AT THE MOUNTAINS FROM OOE HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA" and I'm really being generous assuming it's 5 people because it honestly could be just one.
And now add to the fact that this group of people insist on everyone findign this meme funny
Case in point is that you will NEVER see creaking skull shit outside of castlevania threads or even /v/
How about "full of shit", is that a meme?

As much as I hate this shit meme there's a bunch of castlevania threads these days and most of them aren't completely flooded with this shit, there's actually people talking about the games. I can ignore these faggots so whatever, just let them force their flavor of the month meme if they want.
Under 25 tree was much superior to this meme.

>Get the accessory that turns lightning damage into healing
>Stand at a good distance so he keeps spamming the electricity attack
>Use any weapon with good reach for when he puts his foot forward
I am your god now

>you will NEVER see creaking skull shit outside of castlevania threads or even /v/
Too late.

I want someone to do Simon's theme in SMW instruments.

I wish they gave him the sub weapons earlier. That's when the fight got intense because ducking could get you holy watered, jumping could get you axed. Backing away could get you crossed. It made the fight hard but by the time he starts doing that, it feels like the fight just ends.

Go home.

>Dawn of Sorrow sprite
God they fucked up the art in every aspect of that game.
Question, what does the "kino" part mean in these posts?
>>385194185
That's Aria Soma though.
>>385167801
Which game had the best collection of bosses?
>>385194252
Nothing, some retard spammed it everywhere for months. If you see someone say "X is kino" it never means anything.
>>385194252
>>385194330
In my day we called shit like kino, what it was. A forced meme.
>>385194252
It started from that flick/movie/film/cinema/kino meme from /tv/ where kino is supposedly the highest and most artful form of the medium. It's pretty old stuff by now.
>>385194252
It's german for "Cinema" but on /v/ its shitpost for "game I like." Just filter them.
>>385167936
Nah. I used to believe that. Then I admitted the truth which is that circle of the moon IS the worst castlemania
>>385195916
Thank you, I will.
Where's the version with a skeleton fighting a Big Soma with no legs?
>>385196634
Probably somewhere on 9gag at this point.
