Seriously I can't get over how fucking BAD it is. The first half is Cloud coming to terms with himself for getting cancer I guess. Too bad we miss the start of him getting used to that which might have been interesting. The other half is a mess of flashy battle after flashy battle, in a completely convoluted plot that only serves as an excuse to see all the characters shoehorned in again for a minute (and they gotta 1. be recognizable, so Caith Sith looks like the toy cat for no reason even if Reeve would not have needed that anymore and 2. look like supermodels. I thought Yuffie might be a bit scruffy cause she always lived in the woods but no. Girl's a 10/10 fucking sex doll. So is Barret by the way. AC Barret can dominate me).
It's all just an excuse to have an "epic" boring pointless devoid of meaning battle between Cloud and Sephiroth, for Sephiroth to die again, and we get to the exact same spot we were when the original game ended. It's the epitome of the sequel tendency to be "the same shit again but a bit different and worse".
And it all looks grey and depressing and fuck, Uematsu just really needed One-Winged done with guitars apparently. At the end it's the most boring pointless shit fight with all the characters watching and they are there for no reason. None of them had an arc or anything. They're there because they're the fucking FF7 cast. It's all fucking shit.

Another thing I hated was how Aerith was made into this super spirit. In the original, she was still kept alive through the power of Holy to use it and push the Meteor back. After that, I assumed she died for good and was taken back by the Lifestream to reincarnate. But no, she's the Planet's Super-Protector. It's like how the SW prequels made Vader into this prophecy holy figure when normally he was just like a general. In fact, a lot of the common misconceptions people who haven't played it have of FF7, and believe to be it's stereotypes, are fabricated as products of spin-offs and AC, while the original was nothing like that, much like the prequels and original SW films.
And also like, I don't want characters to be "ugly" or whatever, but having normal to attractive looking people is nice. It's hard to take things seriously when they're made of plastic.
