TP is the direct descendant of OoT Link. He says that nobody could learn his swordmanship skills, not that he never had kids. It stands to reason that only someone who has the Hero's spirit would be able to learn them. Just because you're the Hero's kid doesn't mean you are automatically his successor. The Hero rises in times of crisis, it's just coincidence that TP also happens to be blood related.
