There's a gaiden chapter right after recruiting her where you can train her up to level 20, promote her, and get her to a high level again if you want and she'll usually end up being one of the best units you'll have due to her high caps and growths. For me she managed to cap 5 stats.

That said, they get experience crazy fast so you can feed her enough kills to promote her and then she can coast off of her bases from there. Trainee's are essentially in the same boat, but they're a lot easier to grind up to being useful due to how early they usually join.

Purple is quite a common color nowadays, and Nino is probably the single most common purple card. This is because she has a pretty brutal effect, her first skill, "I'll protect my family!". She can place any card in your hand on top of your deck (meaning you can be certain that you'll get a +30/+40 support value on your next support), and at the same time, she looks through your Retreat for a card with the same name as your Main Character, and adds it to your hand (by retreating a card with the same name, you can crit to double your damage in one battle, or dodge to avoid taking damage). I haven't played Splat2n so I don't know the changes there, but I do know that the localized squid sisters had a hell of a lot more snark that wasn't in the Japanese version. With FE though barring cases like Effie I'd say the characters are usually exaggerated instead of being changed outright. Like Doot was always a bratty kid, but you still got the feeling that she actually cared for her brother in the Japanese version that isn't really in the English version.

What I remember is that instead of imbecilic blood pacts Daein adopts a more republic approach: having both a king and a congress. This is a response to their previous bad experience with a monarchy (Ashnard). The problem is that the congress is basically controlled by Begnion and sues to go to Begnion's aid when the war breaks out. The public readily eats this up due to their dislike of both Crimea and Laguz. Pelleas tries to oppose but is quickly accused of being "literally Ashnard" and trying to overstep his bounds. Thus he can't really do shit.

Anyways, I'm sure I butchered it, but I really liked the idea of political intrigue replacing absurd plot contrivances. Mod when.
