The genre surely can be. We've seen countless battle royal/survival styled games come and go recently.
It's just the latest craze/trend. That's not a bad thing in itself.

It's still part of a trending gameplay loop, soft genre and is still fairly generic, all things considered. Well implemented, sure. Not absolutely earth shattering though.

It makes for a good teamgame if you have 20-30 minutes to kill. Games aren't super long and there aren't very many 3rd person shooters that have similar tactical depth. But for 30 bucks I'd honestly wait a bit more, maybe a month or two for the vaulting mechanics. It's currently very buggy and missing polish in a lot of different ways. However for what it's worth most of the gunplay is on point and servers feel fairly consistent as far as ping/lag.
