Although you could say the downfall started when MS forced Bungie to develop 2 more Halo games than they wanted, but I still enjoyed ODST and Reach 50x more than Halo4.

I am a massive fucking Halo fanboy. If you don't think 5 is a good game, kill yourself. In terms of gameplay, it is the absolute BEST Halo game. The gameplay is unironically the best shooter on the market; too bad it's forever locked to the xbone.

If Halo 5's gameplay was lifted wholesale and put into a different game with a different name, everyone would praise how good it is, because it's that good. In other aspects, no 5, isn't as good as say Halo 3. But 5's gameplay is the absolute best.

I love all the halo games for different reasons, 1-3 are amazing, ODST is dope, 4 is pretty good if only for the campaign which was enjoyable, and 5 is so fucking good in terms of gameplay I could play it forever (too bad my XBLG ran out and I can't play anymore). All you fucking whiners shitting on 343i for not being Bungie need to just fuck off.

it slowly went from marines in space with nigger sergeants, pulpy one-liners and blocky designs everywhere to sleek-in-a-teenage-way space fantasy with guys (and gals because women can be soldiers too!) in power rangers armor

Halo essentially ended after three. ODST and Reach had great campaigns but that was about it.

Come on man, don't be so delusional. Splatoon 2 is fun, but it isn't as good as 5's gameplay. Like, just come on dude, come on.

Titanfall 2 is also great in terms of gameplay, and so is R6S. But 5 is just the best. I haven't played an FPS since 5 came out that was as good (in gameplay) as 5. There are other fun games (like Splatoon 2, etc) but it isn't as good.

Reach was obviously the start of the fall of Halo but 4 really kicked the whole series in the shins and stopped long time fans from going back.

Cod is when it went all so wrong. Cod cracked the casual formula with fast movement, small enclosed maps, sprint, fast TTK, unlocks, and heavy empahsis of competitive multiplayer over coop/singleplayer.

Part of what made Halo great was the great community (arguably the best of any modern game ever). When Cod came around this community was fractured. Halo 4 not impressing was the last nail in the coffin (campaign was good but nobody cares about campaign anymore). This is why 5's return to form was mostly glossed over.
