Reminds me of the time also in Rome when I went into a fight with only a general against a bit over a thousand enemies and still won. Most were low level shitty barbarians so I used hit and run tactics to constantly hit them in the back and flanks and pull away,got some good routs out of that.

Barbarians are easy to beat, but once you enter the civil war is hard not to suffer casualties in battles as the AI just continues to generate praetorian and urban cohorts

Total War Warhammer is great for shit like this, you can send 4 heroes in against literally hundreds of troops and win.
