Dark souls 1 is such a satisfying game to play once you've mastered it. Getting through sen's funhouse on your first try, blazing through anor londo, being in and out of lost izalith in 20 minutes, etc.

In 3 even after you've "gotten gud" there's some shit like chain snake and random stunlocks or enemies deciding they're going to use their flurry ability ten times in a row. Once you get the wolf ring in 1 the only time you'll die to non-bosses is when you deserve it for fucking up, whereas a lot of deaths in 3 just feel kind of bullshit.

I think it's crazy people rank ds1as the best.
World design crumbles part way through annor londo and gets worse as the game progresses from there.
It's clear they decided at this point that warping was the way the series would continue which is why they introduce the lord vessel.
Nito seathe and bed of chaos are all shitty fights in shitty linear areas.
Seathe breaks the games logic in the first encounter where you cannot beat him, and are forced to a new unlit bonfire when you die.
Everything about lost izalith is shit, reused enemies everywhere.
