The N64 cannot be emulated! How will Nintendo make a N64 mini?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

The N64 cannot be emulated!

How will Nintendo make a N64 mini?
>>
>>385101342
It is emulated you can play pretty much any n64 game
>>
>>385101342
The same way they did it for Virtual Console on Wii/Wii U
>>
>>385101398

If by emulated you mean a buggy, glitchy, piece of shit, then no.
>>
>>385101472
No, I don't mean that, reddit-spacer. Learn reading comprehension.
>>
>>385101342
If you look at the hardware inside an N64, you'll see there's some open space on the board. They just need to cut those open spaces out and glue the pieces back together, and boom, tiny N64.
>>
>>385101529

But you implied it. dumbfuck

>>385101465

it's gotta be under $80.
>>
>>385101398
Not well. GoldenEye still runs at like 9fps, and tons of other games are nigh unplayable.

I did manage to play through a lot of Banjo-Kazooie though, that ran mostly fine aside from a little extra slowdown here and there.
>>
>>385101643
1964 runs Goldeneye just fine, while injecting keyboard and mouse.
>>
>>385101529
>Reddit-spacer
Do you screech autistically at your 3rd grade teacher when she tells you to double space your 50 word essay so it's easier to read, too?
>>
There is an N64 Virtual Console on the fucking Wii.
Nintendo's figured out how to emulate, so why hasn't anyone else.
>>
>>385101603
>But you implied it
No, I did not. Show evidence of this baseless claim desu.
>>
>>385101726
Because Nintendo have the source code.
>>
>>385101726
Nintendo have the official design specifications for the N64 so they'll have a much easier time creating an N64 emulator.
>>
>>385101840

why not just recreate the hardware instead of making an emulator?
>>
>>385101714
it's the new gbtreddit you newfaggo.
>>
>>385101726
>wow, why hasn't some loser built a Lambo in his shed, it can't be that difficult, after all Lamborghini does it everyday!
>>
>>385101342
Shitposting aside, anyone who actually thinks a company doesn't have the capability emulate their own product has serious brain problems.
>>
>>385101643
GoldenEye ran at 15-16fps on the original hardware even with a completely unlocked FPS. Game and hardware logic is still going to fuck with the emulator and it's not going to prevent drops where the original hardware would have them.
>>
>>385101472
Most n64 games run at 60fps.
I don't know why you would think otherwise.
It allows for fun mods like paper mario pro.
It's really fun there's new areas, bosses, the overworld is different and really well balanced.
>>385101529
Please don't impersonate me.
>>385101643
You're over exaggerating, there's mods and fixes for most if not all games now. goldeneye runs fine.
>>
>>385102073
>GoldenEye ran at 15-16fps on the original hardware even with a completely unlocked FPS
It's time to stop posting
>>
>>385102001
>>>385101342 (OP)
>Shitposting aside, anyone who actually thinks a company doesn't have the capability emulate their own product has serious brain problems.

Sony isn't able to emulate the ps3. Why doesn't PS4 have any backward compatibility?
>>
>>385102001
It won't happen anyhow unless it has 10 games max, and ones that still control 'good enough' alongside having a stable framerate to not look as aged.

Nevermind that they'll look aged regardless being blurry (thx N64 AA) 320x200 scaled stretched to 1080p anyhow.
>>
>>385102241
Because sonytards prefer re-buying games again. Didn't you get the memo?
>>
It'll only be the playable ones, the ones they've released on VC I would assume since Nintendo is lazy as shit.

It'll probably only have ten games and cost $100.
>>
>>385102241
That's because of hardware issues, backwards compatibility at hardware level is more annoying and expensive than you'd think.
If they had it they'd have the same Xbone price at E3 and it would have flopped.
>>
>>385102241
You mean Sonytards wants backwards compatibility?
>>
>>385102241
because CELL was a shitshow of a pocessor and while powerful, it took programmers years to make proper use of it
Even now, top-end processors at 4,5GHz+ struggle to emulate PS3, so you can't expect an outdated mobile Jaguar @2.1GHz to emulate that retarded architecture, no matter how much you wish for it
>>
>>385101342
They can't.
If Iwata was still alive he could write a cycle perfect n64 emulator that can run on a toaster, in a single afternoon.
But alas.
>>
>>385101342
>>385101472
Where does the "N64 emulators sucks" meme come from? I use Project64 2.2 and everything runs fine.
>>
Probably cheaper for them to essentially engineer a new N64 and make it cartridgeless than to repurpose their shitty WiiU emulator onto some generic Android board.
>>
>>385102737
>Where does the "N64 emulators sucks" meme come from? I use Project64 2.2 and everything runs fine.
Because you are too young to have ever used a real N64 so don't know when it's working properly or not.

I wonder
>>
>>385101342
>How will Nintendo make a N64 mini?

Considering a rival company owns the rights to the entire Rare back catalog which makes up at least 70% of the worthwhile games in the N64's library they're fucked before they even get to the emulation issue.
>>
>>385101643
Is this guy being fucking serious? I could emulate Goldeneye near flawlessly on my Galaxy S3
>>
>>385102641
>implying he was any good
>>
If they could have 21 N64 games on the Wii virtual console almost a decade ago, they can have a good number on a N64 mini at a comparable price to the NES and SNES no problem. Why does anybody think this is an issue?
>>
>>385101342
they have the actual N64 specs so they could make a perfect emulator. There's no guesswork needed.
>>
>>385101714
As a matter of fact, I did
>>
>>385102073
>it's not going to prevent drops where the original hardware would have them.
Yes it is.

>>
>>385101643
>GoldenEye still runs at like 9fps
Goldeneye has an average framerate around 20 FPS and this was proven on Digital Foundry. Stop this le unplayable old console FPS xD meme.
>>
>n64
>30 games

nice joke
>>
>>385101342
Are they going to make a mini GameCube?
>>
>>385102737
because they do.
>>
>>385103760
It's not unplayable because of its framerate, its unplayable because its just a shit game and has aged like milk
>>
>>385103760
He's talking about emulation not original hardware. But I wouldn't doubt 4 player GoldenEye on original hardware went down to 9fps
>>
>>385103885
>because its just a shit game and has aged like milk
Let me guess, you found it too hard that the game doesn't have regenerating health or health packs.

Hi Dobson
>>
>>385101714
>using double spaces

It that a real thing?
>>
>>385101342
Are there even 30 N64 games with playing? With SNES classic you can argue that they could've used even more games to get all the good stuff in, but what was there on N64?
>>
>>385104267
Not an argument
>>
>>385102737
load paper mario and go to the toad town.
>>
>>385101342
The Wii VC had a better n64 emulator than Project64.
>>
>>385101980
Are you retarded? The OP claimed that a N64 mini can't exist because it has no decent emulator. Nintendo has their own working emulator.
>>
N64 is emulated just fine

people are not going to notice the small inaccuracies, they don't on Project64 & didn't on the Virtual Console
>>
>>385102241
The PS4 is nowhere near powerful enoughto emulate a PS3. A $30 off the shelf ARM chip should have enough for a N64.
>>
>>385104634
Nah, Project64 with the right plugins is more accurate

Before they do an N64 Classic, I think they should do a re-release of the NES Classic and an extra-long production of the SNES Classic.

There are still so many people that want those consoles that weren't able to get one, and still won't be able to get one unless they fork out $200+ to scalpers. If Nintendo actually cared about consumers (and sticking it to scalpers), they would do another run of the first two classic consoles before going with the N64

Nintendo will need to ask Microsoft if they want to make the N64 Classic actually have games

Spencer said he will play ball, but Nintendo are incredibly stubborn, even if Microsoft just asks for a tiny royalty fee of 5%, Nintendo will lose their shit
>>
>>385102737
I think certain games like Gauntlet Legends are fucked up on emulators, but I dunno maybe they fixed them since I last tried.
>>
I'll make the accurate N64 emulator, I'm gonna need eight N64 systems, 3000 paperclips and a hairdryer.
>>
>>385105428
Who gives a fuck about the actual games they put on?

It will be hacked in a week to hold the entire library. Just hope nintendos emulation is good.
>>
>>385101342
Wouldn't they just create a really specific emulator for each game?

Stop getting mad over the techless, the inept. Those doomed to walk the path of low fps and graphical glitches. Barely elevated over consolefags, they suffer in the limbo of mediocrity; accurate emulation forever out of their reach.

If they were going to make specialised hardware it would just be easier to start producing the original N64 chips again.

Guess my point is that if they went to the effort of specialized hardware they could probably manufacture RCP again. Nintendo own the rights to it pretty sure.

All N64 components were manufactured at 350nm. We can do 14nm today, so you could probably integrate all N64 parts into a chip smaller than a grain of rice.

I'm sure that's still an HLE emulator with game specific hacks. Good hacks, mind you, considering they got the mess that is DK64 to run. What we really need is a cycle accurate emulator. But of course that would run really slow, so I guess we'd be stuck with HLE anyway.
