I never played it as a kid, and tried to play it last year. Yeah it hasn't aged well. The N64 console as a whole is painfully overrated.

I was somewhere between 8 and 12 when this game came out and I gotta say, even when it came out I thought it was Meh. Now that I look at it all these years later, I realize how shitty it really was.

I gotta say though, I dunno why Im so disappointed that the DK franchise has been so shit. The only DK game apart from the original I ever enjoyed was DKC1, which was fantastic, but everything else never managed to catch my attention for more than a few hours.

I did too because I thought I maybe hadn't given it a fair chance back in the day because I was disappointed that it wasn't DKC and it was even worse than I remember. It's quantity over quality. It has 5 times as many collectibles as Banjo Kazooie, but they're just not fun to collect because the level design isn't interesting enough to want to go through it 5 times to get all the color-coded shit and the minigames are awful.
