It looks like it's heavily inspired by traditional Japanese art, so it probably looks better to the japs since they'd be more familiar with that kind of art than us. His style does suck though, it looks like half of his work is just unfinished.

The lines on the wings look kinda cheap, I get what he's going for but it just ends up at looking like someone's first digital drawing. The legs look a lot better but the wings take most of the space. I like Amano's style usually but this is just one of his worse works.
