The jabs at other forms of marketing are probably directed as destiny which was infamous for its 300 million dollar marketing budget yet the game itself was rushed and unfinished at launch with massive amounts of cut content and story

Yeah, but both the normalfags and autist here celebrate Bioware and ME. It's literally a part of the city's culture and identitiy now. I remember one of my professors earlier this year chatting with a group of students about Andromeda and how incredible it looked. Cons are also just filled with Biodrones cosplaying. I didn't hear much discussion afterwards when the game launched, but the number of N7 hoodies I've seen has remained pretty consistent. On an unrelated note, I think I once spotted a Bioware employee on a crowded train. He had this lanyard round his neck along with the N7 hoodie; I would talk to one if I could and confront him about Andromeda and Anthem

The people that put up giant billboards and ads in the subway for a game aren't the same people modeling textures and designing levels. EA is an industry giant, they have more than enough money to throw at stupid stunts like this for the sake of advertising.

As far as silly stunts by devs goes I think this one has to be one of the cheapest, corn mazes have to be one of the most inexpensive things you can do to advertise a AAA game.

This article says that agritourism companies in the northeast (Where Bioware edmonton is located) charge between 1500 and 1900 for a five acre maze of average complexity.

Even if the maze Bioware had made was considered complex enough to be worth 10 times the standard rate, that's STILL only 15 grand. That's fucking nothing, compared to the costs of buying airtime for commercials, paying actors, billboards, etc.

Again, to compare to the game they're trying to compete with, Destiny spent 300 million dollars on marketing. Now, that game was published by Activision who are well known for not fucking around when it comes to advertising for their games, but EA is hardy small fry.

The tiny amount of money spent making this silly ad is not going to make or break whether Anthem is a good game. Bioware have proven themselves totally capable of ruining shit all by themselves, you don't have to blame the corn
