Alright /v/, thinking of playing through Cognitive Dissonance. Has anyone here played through it/is it good?
Apart from that starting question, general Mother series thread I guess.

It's fanmade, so it's automatically trash.
I can't get into Mother 3, its whole "technology is brainwashing everyone" message feels so forced. If the first two games take place in modernized towns and have positive and negative aspects in their world, why does 3 make modernized Tazmily out to be a total shithole?

Not everything fanmade is bad, though I still wouldn't bother playing whatever OP posted.

Mother 1 is good but it is a famicom jrpg. Compared to most other jrpgs of that time it is pretty forgiving overall but it has some tedium.
There are four crucial points you should grind.
>Ninten leaving his house
>Ninten entering magicant for the first time
>Loid joining your party
>Ana joining your party
Some tips too.
>psi is very strong here but the game doesn't tell you how each spell, look up the psi as some do special thing like reducing an enemy to 1 hp
>you can buy the best armor in the game as soon as you enter magicant technically. You will need to grind but buy the best armor as soon as you can
>be prepared for duncan's factory, it is the ultimate casual filter, grind Loid and buy him some armor
>get the onyx hook, you'll need it
>bread is your friend. If you use it as a item you can use it almost like a save state as it allows you to go back to where you used it
Good luck friend.

The message isn't "technology is brainwashing everyone" though. Mother 3 is a story about loss, of family, of a way of life, and of innocence. Mother 3 isn't as uplifting as M1 or M2, it's a bit more grounded.
I'm not saying you have to play it, you don't like it you don't like it, but it is not about technology being evil, it is more then that.

>Earthbound
>Mani Mani statue
>small town where it has little effect
>medium town where it has more effect
>large town where it has max effect

Maybe because Itoi finally realized that modernity is a disease
>>385087057
>Convinces everyone to go to the "big" city
>It's made of cardboard
>Just an excuse to get everyone in one place
By the end they make it pretty obvious that Pokey is just a little shit.

>implying you don't like /v/
Humanity grew too quickly for its own good in the past century, so autists are running rampant.
>>385088395
/v/ is simply a means of getting a fix for shallow entertainment, which is what diseased people search for, so yes we are all diseased. That's why I try to limit my time on this shitty board

>its whole "technology is brainwashing everyone" message feels so forced
Way to miss the point, retard. It's not as black and white as you think it is.
