Why is the game bad? Because you spend the entirety of the game hoping to join the army in a massive war, or explore space, and you achieve neither.

Character X is constantly kidnapped, and that makes up the vast majority of the second part of the game. Go into a science lab to retrieve Character X, and then you go to other labs which look the exact same as the first.

SO3 had more fun with what you could do. For example:
>playing at Fayt
>long-range strong attack launches the enemy into the air
>strong attack as the enemy falls back down has Fayt doing a backflip kick knocking them into the air again
>weak attack as the enemy falls back down has him stick his sword into the enemy and rip it out for 2 hits of damage

In SO5 the main character has the same strong/weak attacks as Fayt but you cannot juggle enemies. If you do a long-range strong attack you'll knock the enemy into the air but cannot follow it up with the backflip or stab.

Welch doesn't join your party. She is merely limited to side quests in this game. Sadly, you can't kick anyone out. Party members constantly come and go due to story progression.

I beat this about a year ago. $15 to $20 for the game is reasonable. Don't go in expecting a masterpiece.

It was clear that the budget was on a shoestring. Would have been nice if they expanded the world but oh well.

I am more concerned this was Triace's last game. Square can be ruthless.
