I've done both, and it's way worse. In Pokemon it's easy as long as you know what you're doing. In SMT4 you just kelp entering and exiting the area over and over hoping God will take pity on you and make it appear. I spent ten minutes preparing to fight Matador, then spent five straight hours not finding him. Still haven't seen the fucker.

Adding to this if you die and don't have charon revive you, you have to do it all over again.
Plus depending on which one you are hunting, you have to be paying attention since demons will spawn in between the fiend, so you can't just be doing something else while you go for it.
