I find it much easier to get into places if you use actual tools and don't break anything. Especially if you come through a wall instead of a window (ie breaking into the chemist office through the Morgue by welding through a wall)

Unscrewing/prying a window is also a lot faster than breaking it if you know the right order to do the steps and have a full kit of tools in your backpack. You can get through a window in like 5 seconds or a wall in 10 seconds

SS13 is one of my all time favorite games, you never know what's going to happen and every playthrough can be like a completely different game. I love it when you're just some janitor guy mopping the floors for 20 minutes, and then all of a sudden it's survival horror where you gather resources and avoid getting raped by xenomorphs. It's one hell of a rush to run with your group of survivals and try to get to the escape shuttle together. Then one by one you get snatched by the xenos in the dark hallways. The xenos are about to get you, but then you throw a smoke grenade you found from the maintenance hallway. It's harmless smoke, but the xenos don't know that so they back off for a second, and it's just enough to keep them away from you and you make it to the shuttle.
Stay away from the shuttle windows, mourn for your lost friends, and pray that the security has enough charge in their laser guns to keep the xenos away.

I like TG, just casual enough for fun chaos, but also just strict enough for not complete grief-fest. But oh my god when the game has 95 players and you're security officers, times like that make you sympathize with nazis. Sometimes I don't even bother being gentle with the greyshits and the clowns when there's 20 of them running around, shitting on the walls. I just take them by the throat, beat them to critical condition, cut off their arms, loot their shit, and let them go.
Honestly, the brig is way too small and badly designed for large crowds of criminals. It's even worse/better to be a detective on ultra crowded rounds, I don't even bother solving the crimes, too many variables. If I see someone carrying something they're not supposed to carry, I pump them full of lead, and I'm going to get away with it because I'm the fucking detective and not some pussy by-the-book security guard.

Of course I then begin to understand the mob rule when I'm one of the greyshits, it's actually pretty fun then. 15 greyshirts running in and looting everything they can, and they can't even tell which one you are if you keep your mouth shut and wear a mask.

I want to reply to you as fast as possible and shoot that dream down. The sheer autism used to create the systems used to calculate atmospheric values per tile was already impressive, but people have been adding to that over countless years as well. Recreating SS13 in a modern engine is a project which will quite possibly never happen, and unless it's done by AAA studios or people who REALLY know their shit in programming the sheer ammount of data being passed around on high population rounds may as well cause FPS death. What people SHOULD be doing is trying to remake the original, basic, pre-goon version, in all its barebones-edness. Then all those newfangled features you want from other codebases can be brought in as small content updates, or they can be left to modders (which Stationeers seems to want to do)

I started playing on /tg/ but got really tired of the powergaming, validhunters and name/erp-fags. I went to /vg/ and kept on playing there for years. Took a break and came back recently to witness how it had basically become /tg/.

Do servers still have the singularity engine? I loved setting that up in my old station engineer days and in a few sessions when the round wasn't reset for over 24 hours I spent copious amounts of time fixing the gaping wound on the station while dodging the occasional facehugger or mad survivor.
