I got one one prime day with 3 games, an extra controller, and a play and charge kit for $240. I wanted a 4k blu ray player anyway so it was a great deal all around. Enjoying Forza 6 and Halo 5 which I can't get on my PC.

I have good memories playing Jet Set Radio Future, Sonic Heroes, Mechassault, and Ninja Gaiden Black. If they make those play on the XBOX then I will probably get one. Sea of Thieves is looking awesome too. Honestly? I've always liked Xbox but I just see no reason to buy an Xbox One currently. And this isn't some anti-Microsoft bias. I think they are actually overhated by the paid for by Sony gaming media. I still don't have any new console and am fine playing on my 360 because it seems that new games suck.

It handles digital licenses better than the competition. Backward compatibility is a nice bonus, but it would be better if it was for every game and not just the small easy ones or AAA mainstays. Still holding out hope that Vanquish and Asuras Wrath make it. Also has the best controller. The file browser makes it a great under the TV box to store all your hot new torrents films as well. IR blaster support allows you to use it with your tvs remote.

First of all, XBone doesn't have backwards compatibility, just like Windows10 doesn't have backwards compatibility with Windows95 games.
If you need to mod, remaster or alter games in any way then you're NOT using BC. You're emulating games that needed to be manually tampered with by a large team in order to work on the new console, completely different things. I can NOT pop in a niche japanese Xbox or 360 game on the Xbone and make it work, because the Microsoft PR team and the port team decided that most niche games are unworthy of being """"""""backwards compatible""""""""" on the Xbone, they obviously start with the most popular ones and slowly expand from there. It'll take years (if it happens at all) until I can play half my OG Xbox library on the Xbone.

PS4 is the first ever Sony homeconsole to not have BC, compared to every Xbox console ever, none of which had BC.

All of that being said I don't actually care about BC. So the _fact_ that Xbone doesn't have BC doesn't bother me at all. If you want to play old games play them on old consoles. Wanting BC is stupid as it only increases costs. Part of the reason why the PS3 cost $600 at launch is because it had a literal PS2 inside of it. They could have a good $50 just from removing that, which they did with later PS3 models.
