I remembered it as 4chan getting blamed for a lot of stuff SA started, because 4chan tended to amplify the visibility. Obviously, this was stuff from years and years ago. I just assumed it was something that stuck as a rep. All the better, since it helps keep those who can't think for themselves out... or at least that's the theory. It doesn't seem all that effective these days, but I think that's simply because 4chan is far less taboo than it used to be.
