Feathers don't make sense as anything other than stuff to attract mates with. They're not giant chickens. This is because the world was hotter and more humid and an active predator is gonna get hot quickly. I don't see a T-Rex rolling around in dust to spread their feathers open so they cool down quicker.

If scientists had funding they could retroactively create a dinosaur by editing the historical DNA of a chicken. A combination of the two really, the periodic cycles of glaciation that started over two million years ago, with several warm cycles between, would be very difficult for most megafauna to adapt to, most of them would have been wiped out then, worldwide. What few megafauna that survived that then had to contend with humans, who only left Africa around 75,000 years ago, and exterminated just about all large game they came across, since that large game would not have been adapted to dealing with an apex predator like humans, having not evolved around them. Our sudden appearance in an environment where they formerly knew no predators would render most animals completely defenceless against this sudden new threat, which is why we wiped out just about everything in our path, except for Africa where the local animals, which would not have been hit as hard by the ice ages, had also had a lot of exposure to humans and our ancestors, making them slightly better off then animals elsewhere. As for the other stuff that wasn't mammals or birds, reptiles haven't been truly huge since the dinosaurs went extinct, outside of saltwater crocodiles if you want to count that, and arthropods can't grow huge due to our current atmospheric makeup, since they're limited by their design, they can only get larger if there's more oxygen for them.

I think I know the paper you're talking about, and if it's the same paper, it indicated the discovery of the oldest human ancestor being discovered in either Europe or the near east. IIRC all the fossil evidence still seems to support humans evolving along the same well studied line of descent in east Africa, it's just that if you were to continue going back, you would find that said line ultimately came there from Europe, some 7 or so million years ago. Essentially, oldest human ancestors goes into Africa, evolves for 7 million years, humans come back out. At least that was how I came to interpret the paper.

Most of the big potential uses of scorpion venom are in cancer related fields.Which is a field that pays big money by default, although there are better alternatives to some of those uses in development (there was one use of the peptides of a scorpion that is basically an overglorified chemo, for instance).
The only oncology related use that is probably worth that much money is the tumor paint.And even then it seems overpriced af thanks to milking.
