Take your time if you plan to visit around, there's a lot of walking involved since the metro is literally the only mean of transportation there.

I was able to rent an apartment (around 500 dollars) for a month, visited a lot of places but I still missed a shitton of other things I wanted to see; planning to return there next year.
If you don't mind Japanese language games there are A LOT of games stores (even in small towns) with new and well mantained used games and systems (I purchased a mint condition psp-2000 for 5000yen plus a lot of other games)

I found a pristine copy of El Shaddai for $3 at the pawn shop I was picking up my gun from.

I know this is /v/, but I'm more in it for /toy/. Aside from the obvious touristey things, I mostly just want to visit Akihabara for Gamers and a few Mandarake locations, along with the Azone store. And then Wonfes and/or AKGarden of course.

My biggest holdup is that I'd really like to see a rakugo if those even happen any more, but my moon is nowhere near the level to understand it. I haven't even started seriously planning yet, it's still just something on my bucket list instead of something I'm definitely doing soon.

I went a couple of times in one of those multi floors Mandarake and the toy section wasn't bad, the downside of having a multifloor shop in Akihabara is that every single floor is cramped with everything in tight corridors but I think you'll like them.
Just remember that most things are pre-owned or just in an "old" state while newer things are a bit rare in that kind of shop, you'll se very high prices but also very rare pieces.
