Thanks for the memories OP.
That was a great game.
I think I played the neutered PSP version and still had an amazing time with it.

Soundtrack was not bad at all.
Pretty varied actually.

Why do racing games have such shit OSTs these days? The original Hot Pursuit 2, Burnout Takedown, and both Underground games had so many amazing tracks that got you pumped up to go as fast as you can, or chill out while customizing your ride. Nothing really gives you that same rush anymore.
>>
I never liked these realistic racing games at all.

Racing game soundtracks peaked with Burnout Paradise. You have licensed tracks, the original songs from older Burnout games and then also classical pieces which are so fucking good.
https://youtu.be/kOberfl3-9M

If someone would've told me that one day there would be a racing game, no less a Burnout game, with Habanera Carmen or Horn Concerto #4 or the Nutcracker in it I would've gotten that person into a mental hospital. Yet here we are, and it somehow works
>>
Ive been thinking about emulating one of the older PS2 NFS games like carbon or underground 2, but Im scared that ill play them and just not enjoy them at all anymore. I dont want to ruin my memories of them being good
>>

In your opinion, what's the best modern arcade racer? I want to play a new game, but the last 5 or so NFS games have all looked like racing sims with weighty cars and sensitive drifting. I'm really looking for a new experience.

Also I enjoyed replaying NFS U 2 a lot more than Carbon.
Carbon has this annoying rubberbanding and shitty teammates who get in the way.
Every race ends with a 15 minute police chase, it gets old fast.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uerI-LoXjh8
>>
>>385053748
yes maybe. Now that I'm looking at it I'm not sure what to get it on.

OG xbox uses some gay 16:9 mode where it zooms in everything and you end up seeing less.
PS2 offers 16:9 but no 480p
GCN right now seems the best because it offers 480p and 16:9

No pc plz, i want my games to run

thats an internal struggle I fight every day. I can get around this if I get super drunk and replay them, im not so picky and just blatantly disregard the faults and just enjoy the experience.

NFSU2 is still fun play it
>>
>>385042034
I just started to replay them again and they are still good. I am 31.

Download and install, then play. Takes like 3-4 minutes, including the install time since it's just 1.12GB, then 1.7GB once installed.

The resolution and frame rate make it much easier, yes. I'm pretty sure the physics go apeshit at higher fps too, making it much easier to make people spin out.

Yea, more than you think, the only actual problem doing the storyline is that you are forced to make your car into a clown one at some point.
I used to do sleepers all the time, rims, black window tint, low suspension and sometimes the bumpers to get some downforce out of them.
But there is a point when you dont have anything to do for the story, unless you go to your shop and destroy the aesthetics of your car so it can "level up" and then the fucking magazine calls you for a photo, then you can go back and keep on.

It dosent rubberband as much as whatever came after, like most wanted, so if you tune your cars good enough, you will end up finnishing a minute before the second.

I wish there was a mod that allowed me to swap the music out with Euromeme. Maybe also replace the miata with the classic pop up headlights one and change the Peugot to a Twingo.
>>
>>385055984
Hey, dude. If you're using Thirteen AG's widescreen hack for NFSU2, if you try pressing the analog triggers to define them (say to reverse or accel), the game will crash. So in order for your controls to actually be set up, you need to 'uninstall' the widescreen mod, configure the controls with the normal game, and then re-install the widescreen mod and it should work just fine.

Not the problem you had, but I figure it might help.

Yeah, I'm the same as you. I hated putting on the hood scoops, spoilers, and body kits. A good way to make your car look less of a 90's JDM mess is to color as much decal the same color as you body paint.

>They play a game about tuning cars and don't like tuning their car
Why?
>>
>>385073794
from what I understood they like tuning the cars, but the level up mechanic requires them to abandon all good taste in order to advance the game.
>>
>>385071769
>configure the controls with the normal game, and then re-install the widescreen mod and it should work just fine.
Can you go more indepth with this? I moved the shit out, configured with the base game, moved it back in, configured again, and I'm still getting fucked.

Different taste. Some like to go over the top and others like to keep it subtle.

>>385073903

>>
>>385074113
Well in real life adding those things liek spoiler and aerodynamics do help with performance.
Decals I go always light too. The game was mostly around having a car that could stand out, so it is logical that you have to add a lot of stuff.

EA has always put a lot of advertisements in the games, nothing new.
Burnout had a lot of ads too.
You get used to them and don't pay much attention eventually though.
