I have only played the first two. Never played the third. The second one improves vastly on everyting that the first did: level design, the animal rides, the mini games, the secrets and even then, the first one is an excellent game.

So I have to say the second one but I haven't played the third.

All three are great games and have their own strengths.

Two and 3 have some music and design choices that don't really match in tone but still work.

That being said I prefer 2 over 1 and 1 over 3.

I really wish David Wise had done all of the music for 3. If you could mix some of the tracks in the GBA version with the one on SNES, it would do wonders for the atmosphere.

Side note, Kiddie really wasn't that bad and pretty much anyone who is going to see this thread wasn't alive long enough to feel any disappointment from Donkey or Diddy not being the other
main character.
Sure it would have been great to wrap up the trilogy with DK and Dixie but it really does't effect the game in any way thats actually important.
Projecting a bit, but oh well.

DKC 3 felt like a lazy DKC 2. Definitely the worst.

GBA version is actually really good and playing on the go is a bonus.
