League is unironically a great game.

I've been playing pretty much exclusively League, Overwatch, and Indie games for the past two years. Don't regret it one bit.

One prize pool is funded directly by the company that made it and they set a hard cap on their contributuons. The other funded both the company and by players of the game. Thus the larger pool.
