Anon in the comments from the last thread, looking for further critiques on my build. So here what's up and has been made clear to me. I do NOT plan on overclocking, I'd like to be able to stream for fun, CEMU is probably the most intensive emulation I'll be doing, and overwatch/doom/maybe GTA will be the most intensive gaming overall. Breddy Gud?
P.S. I'm trying to stick to around $600 budget, but I'm willing to spend $800 if it involves buying a RX 580.

>Price data not available
Just get something midrange like a 1050TI or whatever the AMD equivalent is. Unless you feel like spending $400 on a card that miners want for 10 extra FPS
>>385002459
That's basically what I'm planning to do. Instead of the RX 450 I think I'm going to just buy a RX 580 unless this doesn't blow over by late September. What are the chances that suppliers restock in around 3 months?
Hot insider tip from a miner: If you are going to buy an Nvidia card, do it soon. Ethereum mining (slightly better on AMD cards) is about to come to an end sometime before November 1st due to a network change. Most people will probably switch to mining Zcash afterwards, which happens to be slightly more efficient on Nvidia cards at the current time.
>>385003039
Another hot tip: Mining on cards isn't quite as destructive as you'd think it would be. Don't get me wrong, it does put wear on the card, but a properly configured card is significantly undervolted to run cooler and save electricity and the core clock left at default. Only the memory clock is boosted for mining. The only thing that really wears out on them is the fans, and they can be replaced. So basically if you can find a retired mining card at a decent value then it will probably work fine for a few years with just a fan replacement.

When would these start popping up?
>>385002260
how about you go to /g/ instead nigger they actually have pc building general with complete fucking list of things you need know
>>385002260
Why not get a 1060?
>>385004478
Because I've had success with this board in the past and I don't see why it wouldn't be helpful again. If you're not going to contribute and just post bait the fuck off you ninny.
>>385004575
CEMU isn't compatible with intel

this is nvidia town anon clearly you are the baiting faggot

>God Damn Miners Edition!
So you already know what the problem is and you still want to buy one?
Your ONLY options if you're on a budget right now are
>get a 1050ti, which is shit
>sit there checking every single OEM-approved seller every single day for a sale
The second one is what you should be doing if you're building a PC anyway, but a "sale" these days just means "listed at an actually reasonable price and sold out in minutes".
And worst case, Cyber Monday is only 4 months away. Just wait anon. Wait for a sale, wait for Vega, or wait until the stock recovers from the Etherium mining boom
>>385004950
>I'm retarded
CEMU.info
I honestly wouldn't buy a pc or upgrade in the current climate. Wait a few months till things smooth out and you will get far more for your money.
>>385004727
/pcbg/ on /g/ is still pretty good. /g/'s slower, but a computer shouldn't be an impulse purchase, anyway.
>>385004963
Well is a 580 worth $399, because of be willing to buy even if it does cost half of my budget.
>>385005002
>CEMU.info
>NVIDIA GPU: Runs as expected on most recent driver.
>GTX 1060 is made by Intel now
You are.
>>385005181
Whoops
>>385005149
The manufacturer's suggested retail price is $250.
With my past PC builds, the goal was to never buy anything at MSRP, which was easy to do. GPU prices will drop eventually, but we have no way of knowing if it'll be a couple months or a year or more.
>>385004194
Any time mining starts to get too hard to make a profit because the coins went down in price. Check on the price of Ethereum every few days, and if it drops below about $200 you'll maybe start to see panic selling miners offloading their mining cards on Ebay.
>>385003603
This is true, but it assumes the miner knew what they were doing and properly configured their cards. With a swell big enough to drive cards up $200, you can bet your ass that most of them didn't know shit, and all you can do is hope they followed a good guide and followed it well.
>>385002260
looks like a good budget buiid. would recommend getting 16gb of ram tho.
>>385004194
Last Sunday, Etherium went down 20% to a 2 month low and more GPUs than normal popped up on eBay. Some people thought there would be a mass sell-off that would flood the market with used GPUs, but it was back to normal a day or two later.
>>385002260
>streaming
kys, unironically
>>385005873
Wear and tear is usually a big problem for mechanical objects. GPUs are electrical, besides the fans, and as a result don't experience the same type of wear.
if a GPU works for 1 month then it'll probably work for 1 year and then 3 years and 10 years. And in fact it's usually the repeated heating and cooling go the circuit board that ends up killing GPUs. A problem that mining doesn't face since it's 100% on.
In short nothing wrong with buying a mining card. RX 580 that's been mining for a few months is no worse than a used GTX 980 from 3 years ago.
>>385006061
>Wah wah wah, somebody wants to stream for fun and I don't like it!
Why do you let this bother you? Just ignore it, they will never impact your life in the slightest and your just posting even lower bait than the anti-AMD anon.
>>385006204
Oh that's interesting, I've never heard that. So I should just try and find used ones from eBay or something?
>>385006657
Basically, yes
>>385006061
streaming rpg games is comfy
>>385002260
>buying amd
>>385009323
I want to be funny internet man like vinesauce. I'm not going to be shill though so I'm not going to advertise my shitty stream here.
>tfw my R9 390 + i5 rig still plays everything I throw at it with stable 60 fps + 1080p on at least high settings
I want to eventually upgrade and start gaming at a higher resolution but that would involve buying a new monitor and a better GPU. Could probably still get by with the i5 since it's overclocked and I have a nice cooler for it.
What GPUs are even considered good these days? I've been out of the loop since I built my PC years ago.
>>385009739
I'm pretty sure anything Radeon RX 480 and up is good for quality games
>>385010005
This. You can get around 100 frames on most intensive games apparently.
