1. Offering no discounts ever on such an expensive game, is just a bad idea. Only an ever shrinking demographic of oldies will ever be interested at 40$. By doing sensible discounts, like Larian have always done with Divinity: Original Sin, he would both earn exponentially more money, and, never "sell out"

2. Noone not already interested would ever buy it at 40$. Every time a game goes on sale, depending on the sales price, non-buyers with some or even very little interest would perhaps buy it.

But no no no, let's me just sell my games to only other old farts who "get it". Young people can just fuck off and play their Angry Birds and Call Of Duties.
