It's not the escapist aspect of it, and I think intertwining the supernatural and the real world is a good thing in the way that it's done towards the end or how your trying to prevent the Shadows from causing events in the real world are both good or how more and more people get Apathy Syndrome are good examples of how to do that well because it's a natural extension of the Dark Hour and the supernatural elements of the story. She is a super genius capable of doing everything she wants because she gets to.
So she learns pretty much to be the best of all playable classes at all times from the most talented people in the world from each race (whom despite you are told time and again they adamantly refuse to share their technology with other races as an excuse for why people aren't more technologically advanced; they don't refuse her and teach her ALL the things without question.)

To wrap up how retarded this is, she was doing it because she saw in a Deus Ex Machina (literally a machine that lets you see the eternal alchemy, which now isn't an abstract concept anymore, but an actual thing that exists???) that she was a dragon minion. So she went on to use all of these resources and shit to kill Mordremoth by forcefully waking him.
And didn't tell anyone because she was "too insane" to do it and "battling Mordremoth's influence".

There's nothing supernatural about Aigis other than her Plume of Dusk which they only added in The Answer, as I recall. I am okay with the line being blurred when it relates ot the Dark Hour becuaee that had been established as the sueprnatural aspect and the real world had been established as a real world. Most player character stories don't set them up as any sort of chosen one though, often you have a lot of help that you're in charge of because you actually worked your way up to that point. The fact that the game dumps literally everything related to your personal story by about lvl30 is already aggravating, but to then have that leafy git swoop in and jump ahead of you just by hanging out with you while you do the actual hard work? He was a shit character that had an even shittier implementation.

Well, I didn't read anything that was not in the game, and I have no problem with him. So it looks like you have it backwards.
To me, he was just a powerful necromancer, whose destiny was to cleanse Orr. Him receiving the weapon from Pale Tree and becoming the leader of the Pact was only natural. Trahearne came into the story as the expert on undead and Orr. He was the brains of the whole thing and the player was the brawn.

In WoW it still makes sense at least, your character has defeated elemental lords, several dragons (two aspects even), giant bug invasions, old gods, high ranking demons, etc, etc, your achievements by now are already rivaling those you obtain your weapons from so it is hardly unwarranted.

GW2 you're no more a chosen one than any other military commander and you're usually assisted by troops and other strong characters, having Traeherne show up and get special treatment, essentially shifting the story even further away from you and onto him was terrible. I'd much rather have invaded Orr with Reeva and my warband
