Love stories

Imagine an RPG crossed with an '80s-early '90s arcade beat 'em up. It looks and sounds gorgeous, and a lot of people really like the story, but it's not particularly deep.

That sums up most of George's games.

Very pretty graphics and fun action RPG gameplay that you'll either adore for 40 hours or get bored of in 4.
>>
>>384992553
The best part about the story is how it's presented
>>
>>384993719
>get the platinum
How hard is it?
>>
>>384996370
Easy. Not the one you asked, but you just beat the game exploring all areas properly (it will save you time on revisiting), which you will be more urged to do if you play on hard. Get true ending, eat all foods with one char and you're pretty much there. Took me about 42 hours on hard mode.
>>
>>384997227
Is there any reason to play on the hard mode other than arbitrary challenge?
I did beat Muramasa on Shura mode, but I can't say it was particularly rewarding. The gameplay more or less boiled down to spamming special attacks which gave a fuckton of iframes.
>>
>>384997403
Not really. I just didn't want everything to drop dead like flies. Some bosses were quite a pain in the ass to do, but it's mostly hitting normally and chaining combos to do damage. I ended up mostly using 1 skill for each char which I got at the beginning (can get early on, max it first and the beginner skills are one of the best). I can't say the iframes were lifesaving. You still get hit easily and using specials at the wrong time will get you killed.

It's not really a challenge or anything. It felt more like a retro normal mode to me. Bosses and enemies are also more sponges I think. I dropped the difficulty midway of getting the true ending (you need to basically kill all final bosses with each char).

So for what reason would you play hard mode? For wanting to enjoy the game in not being completely a hold/press x to win game only for the story.
>>
>>384998513
I was just wondering if there are cheevos or some exclusive content that requires you to do hard mode.
>>
>>384997403
Fucking casual. Play the game in one hit kill mode wothout the items who recharg your weapon and you'll get a surprisiingly good beat them up.
>>
Dragons Crown was fun
>>
>>384998839
But the one hit kill mode has auto blocking. Although I didn't realize that you can just continue from the previous room, for some reason I thought it was permadeath mode. Otherwise I might have attempted it.
>>
>>384998927
Your weapon can be broken pretty easily and if only one of them break it's pretty much gameover.
I find it way more fun than the mode without auto blocking because this mode is just a pain in the ass.
>>
How essential are items, planting nuts etc? I feel like I could spend all day farming and upgrading random items, spells...

For the best girl to get the worst end.

Does Alice die a horrible death at the end of the game?
>>
Great game but suffer from lack of diversity sadly. Each character plays slightly differently but not nearly enough (outside of the elf girl but I really didn't like using the bow). Also you pretty much play the same stages with each character over and over again. Best to take a nice break after each character so you don't feel the repetitiveness of the game. I know I feel like I'm shitting on the game but I really do feel it's great. Just that it really goes get repetitive if you try to blaze through the feel game with each character.
>>
>>385000492
Food is extremely overpowered if you stack the buffs allowing you level up very quickly and end up overlevelling everything by 15-20 by the end of the playthrough
>>
>>385000492
You can easily replay stages for money to buy the seeds to plant. Try to unlock "+% on eating" as fast as you can and just stuff your face with as much cooking as you can since you can level insanely fast with that. You really shouldn't need it since it's easy as fuck to get S rank on everything on your first or second try even bosses.

AND THE FOOD, DON'T FORGET THE FOOD

Repetition.

Any quick do's and don'ts tips?
Can I royally fuck up a character progression, or can you learn everything given enough time?

Nah. You can't really fuck up a "build" or anything. Some skills are objectively better, but every stage can be replayed and grinded for new skills/exp

>>384998640
Nope, not at all.

>>385001087
I honestly don't see the problem. Every area with each character is of the same type, but it's not entirely the same. The map is completely different and it tends to have different ways to go through it. The characters don't differ that much, but more than enough to put them in a list of who is the best and who is the worst. I also find the game fairly heavy on story telling, which makes going on even though a bit repetive, fun. It doesn't get close as Dragon's Crown in replaying areas by far. All 6 characters normal+ hard mode every area for a platinum and one goes very hard. It was easy after the first though, but Odin Sphere's difficulty won't be much different as long as you don't play on hard.
>>
>>385008286
I was just trying to say the only real issue the game has. And to me the one issue Odin Sphere has is that over time you may feel that there's just a lot of samey feel to the game. Character has different weapons but the gameplay has a samey feel to them in a way. Map layout is different but you just get the feeling of you been there before. I loved it but I say it's best play in chunks than one big bursts.

>you just get the feeling of you been there before
It's the same area they're visiting. There could have been a little more variety in parts of the area where they actually are.

It's still really good though. Even if it's samey, it depends on the person. My friend found it very repetive and difficult to go through, likes making choices types and heavy story games. Me on the other hand prefer decent gameplay, a minimal ok story (rather that than retarded shitfest) and don't mind a little bit of grinding which he hates a lot. I actually think that if you don't mind a bit of grinding, the game is easier to play. That's probably the right way to say it and differentiate if people can play in one go or need breaks.
>>
Great gameplay with depth because of lots of enemies and skills. Takes some skill to play well, but not much.

Beautiful music and graphic design.

Quite repetitive towards the end because you have to play the same stages over and over. Sounds worse than it is though because you play as different characters with very different styles of gameplay.
>>
>>384992446
Make high level yogurts before pigging out.
The melee characters usually have a very good skill unlocked early on which consumes POW (usually 40% or around), which is basically a bread and butter for them.
Mercedes still make use of power shot but not quite as much.

No reason to cheap out on alchemy, it's good.
