The reason Jon Snow is Jon Targaryen goes all the way back to book 1 when Robert visits the grave of Ned's sister.

Ned's sister is the reason Robert was obsessed with murdering all of Rhaegar's spawn to the point of sending killers across the sea after Daenerys because Rhaegar stole her from him.

Ned told Catelyn he cheated on her to cover Jon's real parentage from Robert. During the arc with Bronn and Jaime in Dorne, they fight in a courtyard in the water-gardens, I think.

The choreography is one thing, but the way they move seems very girly, hesitant, prissy.

At the very least, they are completely unbelievable as the deadly sand snakes, who acquired a reputation as vicious and deadly fighters. From the books, I imagined them as cutthroat bandit queens, who get leeway from their lineage. Not as one women and two teen girls, who glare at you angrily , like little sisters after you snitched on them to your parents.

The whole "let's have some of our fan-favourites Jaime and Bronn go on an adventure, because we need to introduce Dorne, without losing the short attention span of our main audience" thing seemed kinda ramshackle and ill-advised.

Certainly it was no masterpiece, but in comparison to what the show had delivered so far, it was acceptable. Also, I really appreciated someone bothering to wear a helmet into battle. How refreshing.

Add to that, that it was one of the very few instances where the armour many characters wear actually did have some use. Mostly, people get pigstickered like they are wearing wet cardboard, even it it is clearly supposed to be multilayered protection. And I am not referring to scenes where valyrian steel is in play, which would justify this.

I remember a theatre teacher back in highschool having us watch the Troy fight of Hector and Achilles and really gushing over the theatrical performance of it - the poetic cadence of their dialogue, the rhythm and style. It was a little show-boaty and cinematic obviously from the real thing but when it's that beautiful I don't mind it one bit. What's tragic for me is that I love Dorne and loved it since I read Oberyn's passage in the books. I'm a huge fan of that Andalusian-Moorish-Iberian theme and style but now it's tainted with the memories of the sand sneks.

It's a real shame when the first season seemed to have some really good sword work. And aformentioned dipylons.
