that pic. god I miss the DS, so many little known experiments experiments, some failed but many were moderate successes. The sweet spot of small teams and budgets with a focus vision while having a set of controls that allowed complex, or at least engaging systems.

I heard Dragon Quest IV is a good entry point to the series. Is that true?

Most people would say DQ5 is better

Electroplankton is really fun to mess around with. I still keep my DS around to mess with Hanenbow and make nice loops to fall asleep to.
Chinatown Wars is fantastic even if it's got a little slow down if you're playing it on a real DS instead of emulating.
Trauma Center and Elite Beat Agents are some games that use the touch screen the best while also being good games. The Etrian Odyssey games are also a perfect fit for the device.
It's worth playing the Metroid Prime game on the actual device just for the control system. There are probably some other fps games that play similarly but this is the only one I actually played.
