Well yeah, considering that Nioh was KT's highest selling game since the merger, they've got suitable motivation to do it.

Nioh went through several studio changes, entire genre changes, a console change and even an aborted film before they actually settled on the final version of the game to make. Now that's set in stone, they're fine to churn out a sequel in the next couple of years.

lots of games are in development limbo like that. the biggest problem was they didn't know exactly what sort of game they wanted. once they knew what nioh was going to be development time was no longer than any other game of similar scope. With the style of gameplay in nioh solidified, feedback from the beta and the pretty impressive post release patches they would have a very solid understanding of how to do nioh 2 I think. I'd be more surprised if they hadn't already started on it actually. Still it will probably be 2-3 years from today before we get it.

Plus, they have the engine already, they'll probably just build upon it instead of creating one from scratch. 2~ years is a safe bet for a Nioh 2.

I'm fine with the idea that the game can't be a single interconnected world like Dark Souls if they want to go with another adventure that takes you through multiple regions in a single country / continent, but I'd like the levels in each region to be interconnected, with more secrets and hidden areas.

Enemy Variety was my biggest complaint after finishing Nioh, so I'd like to see them address that in a sequel as well. I loved how many unique bosses it had, but it would be cool if we got weakened versions of those bosses sprinkled in later levels as normal roaming enemies, like the grunts in early levels.

These are my main wishes.

Claws sounds reasonable enough, especially if we're talking both for hands and feet, but tonfas are already pretty short range so I don't know if they'd want to go with short range weapons back to back.

I hope they have a kanabo, war fan, or anything with magic scaling. It seems a little silly that ninjutsu gets its own weapon type but not onmyo.

I thought magic in BB blew dicks. Very few spells, the good utility shit hardly requires any arcane and the damage shit requires you fucking max out arcane to get any good damage out of it.

Niohs projectile spells suck too, but at least they work well for elemental status effects. All of the buffs and debuffs are super potent as well. It's not as flashy but it feels way better to use for me.

The changes threw everything completely out of balance, and that's including the half assed attempts at bringing back the difficulty. I would say Alpha damage was slightly lower on a bunch of standard attacks, but because you had to be much more cautious about where you were moving and how low your Ki was you could be placed in higher damage situations if you screwed up. It felt far better than attacks randomly doing big damage and then nothing because you can easily and safely heal afterwards with the better elixirs and then avoid them anyway.

I think if Nioh fixed it's hitboxes it might be easier than Bloodborne. As it stand Nioh has extremely cheesy stuff in both Ninjutsu and Onmyo that let you do horrifying things with Sloth and elemental status effect stacking. There's no reason I should be able to sloth a boss, spam a bunch of elements on it, then low stance spam it to death in a stunlock since it has no ki. It is fun however to do so.

Don't forget about parrying and Bloodtinge builds with Bone Marrow Ash, stacking fire damage or Beast Blood Pellets, and even that you can heal after being hit, which makes the "without getting hit" thing not much of a big deal when you could be playing better by working around getting hit to deal more damage.
But since all of Nioh's abilities weren't adjusted to compensate for the nerfs to the systems (when they were already powerful before but limited due to the enemies being stronger) they're both close in brokenness.

Not that dude but I feel like enemies in Nioh generally put up more of a fight than they do in BB. Most BB enemies drop like rocks because it's a lot easier to do high damage in general. Like three hits from the holy blade is enough to kill the vast majority of enemies. Most of the bigger Yokai in Nioh at least last a little longer, and thus have more of an opportunity to fuck you up. You CAN stack debuffs and shit, but you can only do that so many times in a row.

Only if you have an absolutely trash build. The strongest basic enemies in Nioh are probably the Oni (specifically teh ninja ones) and you can knock their horns off so easily if you know what attacks hit them. The only enemy that's even remotely true of is the long tongue fuckers because they are harder to just ki drain unlike oni. There's the Tengu too but they are not as hard as people think they are. Use any spells or especially Kunai against them and they are a cake walk. Human enemies are a literal joke. One fire trap and three kunai and they're all dead. The strategies I mentioned are just handful that work wonderfully. If you have any omyo magic you can make it even easier. No dude no matter how you slice it Nioh is easier on every levle and it always comes back to the same reason: Nioh is filled with OP builds. So many that by end game you WILL have made one by accident.

Also BB has those shark fuckers so you're instantly wrong.

When I played it the first time I killed the ice bitch in 1 try because at that point in the game I had invested a lot of points in ki so I could easily block her ice projectile and punish. I've played it multiple times actually. Last playthrough was a gunslinger focused Skill/Bloodtinge build using the Reiterpallasch and Rifle Spear. It was fun. If you think bosses don't give you time on ANY attack they do to let you get one or two hits in to recover, which adds up over time, then maybe I'm not the one that hasn't played the game. I didn't say that "it doesn't matter if you get hit", I was saying that doing a boss without getting hit isn't as much proof of overall combat skill as people say it is. Someone that knows to take full advantage of their healthbar and experiments with every opening available is more skilled to me than someone who only swings once on the largest openings. I will say that in all the times I've played it I didn't use Beast Blood Pellets or use fire damage much since I mainly forgot about them existing since I didn't feel pressured to use them, and I only realised how powerful Bone Marrow Ash can really be later into that playthrough I mentioned. There are still some extremely powerful strats available and easy to use. At most they're not as widely accessible as Nioh's but if you use them they can be just as effective.

I haven't looked up anything about the game, only played the Alpha and Beta and everything has been easier than it was supposed to be, including bosses I had never seen before, mainly because nothing has any health. I'm not wearing a full set for bonuses or using any attack buffs either. Before you point it out, playing previous versions only amounts to a bit more practice with the base mechanics of the game and anyone should have acquired those skills long before the first region ends.

Nah, it's a fictionalised version of William Adam's journey to Japan where he became a Samurai.
He's there to hunt down Edward Kelly who took his Guardian Spirit Saorise to hunt down magical stones known as Amrita.
Lands with powerful superstitions and in violent bloody conflicts generate more Amrita from the dead, so Kelly went to Japan to harvest it.
Saorise is also able to locate Amrita. And warn William when thins are gonna try and kill him.

Otherwise, it's a romp through Feudal Japan where William is a third party there mostly to kill demons and kill Kelly.

Add character creator for Nioh 2 please. Or keep the current system of buying new characters but let me customize them like William.
