My static has been beating their heads against O3S for a bit now. We cleared O1S on our first raid night, O2S on our second and ever since then we've just been doing O3S.

We're up to library phase but someone always fucks it up. It's okay though, we're probably not good enough to do O4S without a little bit more gear anyways.

Its the comparison that matters which is why tenacity is good.

If you have to pick 1500 det or 1500 tenacity, you're picking between 9.036~ damage gain or 6.912~ damage AND mitigation gain. The damage gain is marginal at best for such a high number like 1500, especially when you can stack Det AND Tenacity. The only thing you generally lose is your melds but the difference in left side melds from Det or DH to Tenacity is fucking tiny (something like 1% damage)

I don't think you understand, what we're talking about here is a flat, constant 10% mitigation. That's essentially an endless Reprisal effect on a tank. When everyone, including tanks, is aiming to squeeze out as much DPS as possible, that 10% constant mitigation can make a difference. It could potentially mean shuffling around CDs for more optimal usage on busters and cleaves.
Just because it's not something stupid like 30%, doesn't mean it should be discounted entirely.

Also, Tenacity's worth will only increase as we progress and get better gear.

Assuming you're only melding left side with VIs in primary slots, you get 13 VI melds for 520 of either tenacity or DH. That's either a 3.46% theoretical gain from DH or a 2.39% damage/mitigation gain from tenacity

When it's dyeable it might end up being better as right now you have to gravitate anything else you wear around it and its colors. I agree though that I wish samurai had the XI armor. I understand them not going full o-yoroi but I will be disappointed if we don't get at the very least kendo style armor. Good strategy I find for keyboard is abilities being:

1-5
Shift 1-5
Shift + Q/E/R/T
Shift + Z/X/C/V/B

That's 19 abilities, then you can add ~ and a few others. I used to rock alt 1-5 and control 1-5 but I liked working just with shift. If I were to add onto it I'd go with control + RTFGCV so I can keep my fingers mostly on WASD.

I'm at heart a DRG though I am working on SAM too and man there are so many great options for samurai as DRG (ideally just limit the spikey drg proper armor from samurai). In general come to think of it I am rather disappointed with the gear appearance for this expansion. We didn't get much of anything that looked good and proper Ashigaru or samurai or heavy mongol looking armor. I felt like Heavensward was a bonanza of pretty good looking leveling/dungeon gear.

Here's hoping they improve with the patches because it's a real waste of potential for nothing much far easter.

I like ZXCV too, I just have QERT as backup. You're right though there's no symmetry for X with WS in front of it. What I realized belatedl is you can do QERT/ZXCV on their own without shift. Quite frankly I should switch over to that and use shift + QERT/ZXCV for anything excess but I fear losing the muscle memory of it. But as DRG I have Shift + QER being jumps, T being blood of the dragon. Shift Z is that mirage dive, Shift X is jump back, Shift C is second wind, Shift V is geirskogul and shift B is dragon chain of friendship. On Samurai Shift X is my jump back (Shift E being jump forward) and I think on redmage shift X is also jump back and shift E is jump forward.

Yes, quite frankly if you take longer than a week with a static to clear O1-4s, that would have translated into 2 months+ on Midas or basically never in Gordias.

The way I generally do it is
1-3 for the most used combo, or for healers, DPS spell on 1, heal on 2, shield/regen on 3, big heal on 4, aoe on 5
4 and 5 are generally either the secondary combo or AOE combo
Ctrl is used for tertiary combos and oGCDs with short cooldowns, or for DoT spells (and blizzard spells on BLM)
Shift 1-5 are used for buffs, or rarely used attacks.
Q, E, R are used for things I'll be pressing a lot that are high priority (stuff like fell cleave, meditation, verholy/flare, etc)
alt modifiers are used for stances only usually.
Then there are some random shits that I threw wherever for whatever reason and have the muscle memory ingrained too deeply to move them to more sensical bindings, like having Dragon Kick on shift 1 for monk, or having death blossom on shift 5 for NIN.

Muscle memory. And among jobs I try and keep some sameness of ability or purpose layout. So shift X is always jump back if possible, Shift E is jump forward if possible (It is for Samurai, for RDM and for Dragoon it's the spineshatter jump that moves me up to the target and keeps me there)

I wish machinist had used a proper two handed carbine and they just did a one handed gunblade class for the Garlean expansion. For a moment I thought Nero in Omega's quest showed it would be the next one the way Regula Van Hydrus was samurai animation and Alisae was RDM, but no apparently he's just elezen animation

Still I'm kind of shocked a gunblade class will never be done. Only way they could is by adding abilities to MCH because otherwise it'd be two pistol classes.

They could have a gunblade job be a reverse Red Mage. Have an emphasis on melee attacks, but also have a phase where you start shooting all kinds of projectiles at the enemy from range.

It isn't because MNK losing GL3 is tantamount to the MNK basically stopping doing anything for 7 seconds and smashing his face into the wall. SAM has an actual failure state with their buffs and doesn't always line up cleanly as they want in actual fights. MNK remains as straightforward and mindnumbingly easy with the most passive buff in the game.

Can I Form Shift to keep GL3 (y/n).

If y, wow you're the best MNK ever. If n, say you have it so bad even though half the dps roles drop dps, some more than others (DRG, SAM). Even so you have PB to account for at least one of those phase shifts to lose basically nothing.

Probably, I don't do crafting. Still feel like it's a good concept to run with for post-conquest. I also feel like they will have goofed by ending it with 4.0 the way AAR's Garlean war was ended with 2.0. Unless I forget and 2.1 was the end. In any case 2.2-2.5 (prior to the braves betrayal at least) dragged on in large part because there was no grand over-arching story the way the dragonsong war was for HW to 3.3.

It's a neat idea but I mean the lack of practicality of two different pistolier classes. And bayonetted carbines or rifles don't seem very final fantasy-y. So I can't imagine them doing a Gunblade class that would make the machinist feel, and I know the term is a stupid meme but 'cuckolded' sure feels damn accurate here.

Though maybe your idea works if it's not a handgun blade but more like the garlean hammer-gun nero used (I think). That would definitely work with your melee-focus but be able to jump back and use magiteck/ceruleum stuff.

If it was pure melee it would somewhat solve the issue. Then again BLM and WHM both use staves and it's not the end of the world. I don't think I'd play it myself anyway since I tend to find gunblades to be silly. It just seemed like they missed a golden opportunity for the classic FF gunblade with machinist. I can guarantee if it used that instead of turrets and shit you'd have a lot more people playing it.

Monk is fine
RNG chakra is stupid, it should be a 100% proc rate, even if that means doubling the number of chakra. But that's a minor gripe and it evens out in fights in terms of numbers.
Riddle of Fire is an absolutely amazing skill that synergizes with Brotherhood better than any other combo in the game. It's also really simple but the only issue with it is lacking ToD/Fracture to stagger out Demolish since you always end up clipping it at 6 seconds in order to fit two into RoF.
Riddle of Earth lets you keep your stacks through any transition in SB that you won't have PB for.

Are you serious? Have you even tried new DRK? have you played WAR at cap? Right now, if you want to do good melee damage, you can be SAM or NIN. SAM is going to get shittier and shittier over the course of the expansion because it's going to be impossible to balance properly with their ridiculous potencies and playstyle. NIN isn't really an option for players on the east coast because Mudras do not work well with anything above optimal latency. Dragoon is crap with a ludicrous ramp up time and utility abilities that function poorly. Monk is an absolute mess, between Greased Lightning still being a shitty mechanic on transitions and Brotherhood/RNG Chakra being unreliable because lol RNG.

only good ranged damage jobs right now are RDM and BRD. BRD serves their role as a support quite well, but they're relatively low damage, so if you wanted high damage ranged your only option is RDM which is absolutely broken overpowered compared to the other casters. Vercure is only 50 potency less than Physick but scales off their primary stat. SMN has Phsyick and it may as well never be on their bar because it's absolutely worthless as a self heal, a support heal or even for their pet. SMN has one of the worst dropoffs in the game with Aetherflow alongside Monks Greased Lightning.

Scholar is an absolute mess. Adlo is not worth the mana to cast. Fairy heals are borderline worthless. Aetherflow fucks them like it fucks SMN. Most of their good abilities are tied to Aetherflow. Compared to the other healers, SCH has the lowest margin for error of the healing jobs and is considered to be largely ineffective both offensively and through regeneration. Succor shields are expensive as fuck with AST delivering superior, cheaper shields or regen on top of better raid buffs through cards. WHM works, but it's outshined by AST and their end cap ability is locked in RNG and often ignored.
