Oldschool Runescape Mobile / Starting Over Again

I never knew about this, that's insane.
Runescape is insanely comfy - I always liked playing it on laptops, but bringing it to something portable like an iPhone is on a whole different level.
With today's iphones, you can run discord + play the game at the same time, so that's another layer of comfy

Just gotta have a character made in the game and the go to the official site and sign up

the community is dead so who cares. it used to be an adventure where you were striving to level up to get to that quest requirement or to hit that mark so you could go do something, but now its just everyone min maxing and calculating XP per second when grinding so they can all rank on the high scores. its not a world anymore its just a grind for the sake of grinding.

I don't know how to feel about this. I want to start a new character as well, but I feel like my life will spiral downwards if I spend hours a day in an MMO again.

I'm sort of excited, laying in bed playing on my phone for an hour before I sleep seems like it'll be nice.

That's just what naturally happens when you play the game same for 10 years straight. That doesn't mean the game itself is bad, in fact OSRS is one of the few MMO's worth playing at the moment.

I haven't been playing for 10+ years. I left about 10 years ago actually, and came back to check it out. It's lost the sense of adventure or being in a world with other people that it had back then. You used to be able to start a conversation or get help or make friends because there was a community of people in this world on an adventure and trying to navigate everything and undertake different things. Now it's just bots and people with XP calcs

Man I remember trying runescape on my smartphone in 2003. Javascript wouldn't work. No one ever got it running on mobile, except through mirroring another computer.

Even if they have some anti botting thing on members worlds (which they didn't last year when I came back, since I ran a bot for a week to test and the account is untouched) they might as well be bots with how they play the game.

The game could be a 100% port from the original 2007 version, but it doesn't matter if the players are looking at it as a spreadsheet rather than a video game or a world to live in.

Thats because there was a lot more players then than now. It was awful then but it was ignorable in pretty much every way except grinding wc or merching items. You could still get lost in the world and find cool people ignoring the bots.

There are just as many bots in Members only worlds. Go world hop in the Ardougne Chaos Druid Tower and look at all Clevel 90+ people wearing the same fucking gear in half the worlds.

Jagex are fucking incompetent, one person should be going through there 12 hours a day and cleaning them up but they sit uncontested for months if ever getting caught. Also the game is one giant monotonous carpal tunnel simulator outside of slayer.

Why would I propose a solution? There isn't one. I moved on from runescape already. I just want to warn people of the current climate of the game.

Tried osrs but couldn't get into it. Rs3 is way funner as long as you don't like pvp. So much more content. I don't know how it'll run on mobile though. The graphics in the newer areas are too much for a phone.

They should have hired a few indians for peanuts to be the bot-cleaners if they wanted to keep costs down. I saw the same bots over and over for months when I played so clearly they didn't do anything like that. If the botters saw that all their bots were getting banned most would probably give up, which would make it even easier. Jagex are retarded.
