only worthwhile ones are 3, 4, symphony of the night, circle of the moon, aria of sorrow, dawn of sorrow, portrait of ruin, and order of ecclesia. be on the lookout for bloodstained too as it's being developed by the same guy behind all of these games

Play the first game if you want to experience the classic gameplay, play SoTN to start you off on the Metroidvanias.

For the most part you should just play them in release order, but avoid II unless you really want to experience it for yourself and III will kick your shit in.
