Harpy and tegu have gary spells, but i think you can summon a grill demon with higher magic stats that can use it

I'm having a lot of trouble with this fight and have been stuck for a while, her requim skill is really bullshit and hits even with full buffs and debuffs. I've been trying to save state scum it but it's still a pain in the ass fight. I'm level 74 should I grind up more or just keep trying and hope rng fucks me less?

the only way I managed to beat ouroboros was by grinding out until I had all party of the same alignment for demon co op and have them all have a fire skill.

Get Mara if you can, nice side quest if you go to Grus to start it (Grendel), Plus you get a good fucking gun out of it, the peacemaker, something that can help. Plus a lv 80 phys demon with charge if you have space. She's weak to lightning right? I think you can get thor at lv 75/76.
Is her instakill expel? Try getting armour against that.

He's a boss it doesn't work on bosses (he's later a generic enemy next dungeon and has the weakness in full effect), just use other skills, best thing is to have a poison resist accessory on. You get one from a Dis if you did her mission, or you could manufacture one outside of then, otherwise use buffs and keep attacking, poison's a bitch though.

had to use a 4x XP gain cheat on this and etrian odyssey, dont have the patience to do any grinding

I had to sit back and grind some levels before the final boss. I was in the last area at level 55 or so, I actually went to 90 grinding in the area just before.

The final boss is pretty difficult, so anything you can muster forth is fair game.

he's full on magic, has all the heavy elemental attacks + megidola and Awakened Power. Mostly relied on demons and partners for support skills up to this point.
This is only my 2nd SMT game after IV, which was pretty easy.

Magic kinda falls off at that point damage-wise, do you have the level 4 elemental magic?
On the other hand, you can be the best support, your Energy Drain will restore a lot of MP so you can spam all high cost skills like Debilitate, Mediarahan and shit. Also, there's the skill that takes out one of the enemy turns, and you can get it pretty early, I forgot the name for it though.

You should probably have a Phys orientated demon with Charge to be your main damage dealer, make sure you keep him safe.

The hardest part of that fight by far is surviving the first turn, afterwards you can beat him with buffs
Try to get at least doping, 2 stages of buffs or debuffs, healed, and Imposing Stance if possible

To grind up demon analysis, just stall battles (spamming defend for like 15 turns for example), it increases the bar tremendously with little grind

Is this considered better than Nocturne? That's the only SMT I've played and I loved it but didn't like having to reroll for fusions and the random teleporters in the White Temple and the last bit of Tower of Kagutsuchi.

People generally either have Nocturne or Strange Journey as their favorite
Nocturne has way better combat while SJ has way better dungeon crawling and story

What's wrong with SJ's combat or rather what makes it not as good? I really liked Nocturne's because each turn felt like it had a ton of weight to it in terms of dictating the fight which made even normal encounters engaging, something I think a lot of JRPGs struggle with is keeping the player engaged for most random encounters but Nocturne excelled at that.

If you want something similar to Nocturne combat then you want either Digital Devil Saga or IV

Mostly just sick of fusing for non garbage demons with good skills.

I actually prefer SJ's combat a little more than Nocturne's press turn, just because I feel like press turn sort of falls apart in some battles where the enemy doesn't have a weakness and instantly dispels buffs/debuffs so you don't get a lot of interaction with it. It seems to cause more problems against you than it does be something you can exploit for victories at times.

SJ's demon co-op might be sort of disappointing, but you can usually get some use out of it even on later enemies, even Mem Aleph herself, to rack up extra almighty damage. And you don't really have to worry about enemies getting a lucky hit and rolling with a bunch of extra press turns, which is kind of nice since it always seemed to happen at the most inopportune times.

I hope they improve demon co-op for the remake. Maybe make it trigger on criticals as well as weaknesses, and perhaps have different effects depending on which demon is co-oping.
