PS2 had shit graphics, but the titles had better art direction and optimization for specific hardware. Screenshot that you posted is a perfect example, things like "cutscene models" are a thing of the past mostly nowadays, they just crank the LOD a bit higher.

MGS3 can be fiddly to control but that's part of the charm

Snake Eater is still pretty good with the classic camera; the idea was that the player would use first-person view and the various sensors to get around. This wasn't that interesting and only made the game slower, but it certainly didn't cripple the game. MGS3 is poorly balanced no matter which camera it uses.

It has higher fuck-around-ability, but that's about it. It's not a bad game at all, but unless inexpressive bobbing heads molested you and trigger post-traumatic stress there's no reason to play it over the original.

And here is "anything on PS2". Both games were emulated, and I'd consider them equally good looking. But I think that's actually in PS2's favor if a piece of shit box can keep up with a more powerful console.
