RE4 - A Few Questions

I'm writing some guides for Resident Evil 4, one of which, my weapon buyer's guide, is already out now, but still needs some work. The main thing is that I'm having trouble trying to come up with any sort of thing to say about the Remington (Shotgun) and the Riot Gun, because neither of them are as straightforward as the Striker in their mechanics. I'm still having trouble figuring out how they calculate their damage, and what circumstances change the damage they output, so the "effective at long ranges" part means nothing to me. Does anyone have any clue as to how these things work on a coding level? And does the Riot Gun even HAVE any tighter of a spread than the Remington does? Even a little?

I do have a few other problems, one with the Blacktail, as I haven't touched it after I fell in love with the Red9 (But these days, I'm finding myself falling in love with the Punisher, with that sweet, sweet penetration stat), so I have no idea for whom it makes a good purchase option (The best I can figure is "People who are prone to panicking"), and where it excels the most. I'm still not sure what the blast radius is on the Mine Thrower with its exclusive, although I can guess it's probably 8. And finally, I could have sworn there was some sort of penetration stats on the rifles and magnums (Though with the magnums, I think I can chalk it up to "armor penetration only"), so if anyone has information on that, it would be much appreciated.
