Anyway TOs show up and try to figure out what the fuck happened ready to get the DQ hammer out, I didn't hear the conversation but I assume dudes with tapes and witnesses confirm that ShinBlade did nothing and the girl started it, tournament continues but I assume ShinBlade was told to keep the pop offs quiet. I just wanted to shed some light on the situation before Kotaku shows up and tries to make it look like ShinBlade assaulted a woman and how the FGC is mysoginst.

A lot of the people who helped GG set up "Not your shield" were FGC guys who just wanted to fuck with Kotaku. You start to see a lot of people only picking characters or weapons that are "top tier" even if they have really obvious flaws or disadvantages because it's not actually a fighting game.
They will then proceed to only use the "best" moves or abilities or options that character or weapon has.
If the game has any kind of combo, expect to see the same 3 combos over and over because most FGC players rely hugely on muscle memory and the "tried and true" over actual tactics, adaption and reflexes.

But probably hands down the easier way to pick out the average FGC player in any other game type if you're up against them is to just keep changing your tactics and strategy a lot.

The biggest advantage and flaw of FGC players is they tend to be extremely well learned in very specific tactics and style as well as having honed muscle memory to react to certain situations in certain ways.
If you constantly play outside of what they've prepared themselves for they tend to be slower to adapt and usually wont be able to keep up with say the average shooter player who relies almost entirely on reflexes and adaptation over knowledge and counters.

Entirely depends on the game type, but I find it really fascinating how you can pick out people who mostly play a certain type of game just by how they handle other games.

I see you have never ever played a fighting game player. No one besides beginners is dumb enough to do any of this shit. There are never any "best" moves. The only real difference between the way this is done by the FGC or the MOBA community (because both are extremely loud and obnoxious) is that if you can fling insults back just as well or better, you'll end up with either a war of insults or respect.
While in the MOBA community insulting them back will usually lead to rage, rage quitting, or a return of progressively more childish insults.

From what I've seen of the 5 most common gaming communities to sum it up.

FGC gets a lot of 8-13 year old mentality, where a common mentality of competing and trying to be better than everyone else persists but can very commonly just delve into childish fun

Shooting community usually ends up with the 14-17 angsty teen mentality where they try to act smarter than each other and there's a surface level of competitive fun but the second emotions get involved everything goes to shit.

MOBA mentality is usually in the small child area where it's all fun and games until someone loses or there's a disagreement and then it's all tantrums from there.

RTS is almost entirely just pure focused autism in both the good and bad ways.

RPGs or MMORPGs tend to fall into the 40-70 year old mentality area where you're not quite old enough to have stopped giving a fuck about everything but you're old enough to have gained a large amount of prejudices and ideas of how things are supposed to be done and it's all generally fun and inviting until you fall into the prejudiced area and it quickly turns into being outcast from the group.

Predispositions to certain medical conditions are genetic too (I'm not a biologist so I can't identify proven examples without looking for studies).

Considering how complex the brain is, it's quite likely temperaments and thought processes are different between more isolated groups too, but I'm again not aware of any studies in that direction that aren't just IQ tests.

They're mostly grouped together because while there are plenty of people who play one fighting game/series and don't touch anything else there's more overlap in the players/viewers/competitors of fighting games than in other genres. There isn't a "MOBA community" or "FPS community" because for the most part people who play/watch/compete in those genres play one game and don't bother with any of the others, and of course the RTS esports space basically consists of exactly one game at present. Those genres don't really have people like Justin Wong who play at a high level in multiple games at once.
