I realize this is probably to save on costs of running, but that killed the game for me.

that's kinda the whole point of the "gameplay". You learn to optimize adventures and resources by choosing optimal paths, upgrading camping and adventuring resources, and using consumables to gain more adventurers. You can get a solid 1-2 hours of gameplay per day if you're cautious, which is all I'd ever want to spend in a sitting.

I know some people don't like it but I always thought the adventure limit stopped me from becoming burnt out and gave me a reason to check up on the game every few days.
