just get 30 spirit so you can use every guardian. literally just level whatever increases your weapon damage. if you REALLY need survivability maybe some Body too, but it won't do much and dodging/blocking is always better than tanking hits. Sword scales with Heart most, then Skill, then Strength. every weapon has a primary, secondary, and tertiary scaling stat. There are no diminishing returns really, you'll get the same amounts all the way up to 99

Onmyo and Ninjutsu are worth investing in for utility, I usually get them to around 20 unless I'm specifically using an Onmyo or Ninja build then go higher of course.

It is pretty cumbersome especially once you get to the divine loot treadmill. I just look for divines in my inventory, lock them for later, and sell the rest. Maybe dismantle for high end stuff but that's more work.

I finished the game of Way of the Strong yesterday

The fight vs the triple clones in the epilogue was so intense my hands were shaking by the end of it, I had to take a break before going for the final boss

The game itself has its flaws, like the poor enemy variety, reused maps for some side missions and some bosses being borderline cheap, but it's a great game after you learn how to play and completely style over every enemy with stance switches and multiple combos and a lot of cool onmyo. I can't wait for the second DLC

If you like action games. it's pretty much Onimusha with Ninja Gaiden gameplay and some Souls seasoning on top. The start is pretty brutal and punishing, but it was completely worth it to learn the game

Also, the exclusive DLC is a bit of a bummer but you can get some from revenants like this helm that's supposed to be exclusive to Japan

Is it possible to do a long sword only run? I just want to do a true samurai run.

If you are picking up the game, some tips:

1. If you get hit, block, don't roll. You probably played DaS and the roll in that game is extremely forgiving, while in Nioh you have a few startup frames before your iframes and you will get hit before you get to them, so if you are hit once and there's another hit incoming, hold that block and then roll away after the enemy is done

2. ONMYO. Magic is more than optional in Souls games but it downright breaks Nioh, even more in the regular NG. If you are really suffering with the game, get some Sloth Talismans to slow enemies and Lifeseal Talismans to fight human enemies and fuck their stamina. It's borderline cheating but it's not as potent on NG+ or the DLC, but the rest of the tree is really good on those (like the defense down talismans)

3. There's an almost DaS2 level of tracking on enemy attacks, so be aware of that when dodging. The webm in question, the boss has an attack where he throws a spinning blade then a straight one at you. I managed to get behind him before the straight blade (slowed by thunder and sloth) and the attack just shoots out backwards

I almost bought this game but I didn't want to play as a whit guy in Japan and also didn't want to play a meh imitation of Dark Souls so I got Yakuza 0 instead, did I make a mistake? The gameplay in the webms actually looks better than I expected

When you finish the game, you unlock Divine gear, a new tier of green equipment. You can farm some revenants and have a full set of lv 150 divine gear right at the start and you are free to use it till the end. There are plus levels to Divine gear, and they go up to 150+10. Soul Matching stuff of the same level or higher boosts the levels (fusing a +1 sword to a +0 one turns it into +1, and so on). I finished NG+ with a +7 set, so you are not even required to grind it all the way up, I just soul matched whatever dropped while I was playing, it was super smooth, even more than the regular game cause I only had to match equipment to gain levels instead of inspecting every piece of gear to see what was better

Well for games like this it feels 5 times better to me on keyboard and mouse. The controller isn't the "best tool for the job" it's just what you personally like. Keyboard and mouse feel infinitely better in he hand and I have several times better comfort and control over the gameplay than on a controller. It's a pain in the ass having to beat the first 4 bosses with only like 50 damage per hit but once you unlock Omnyo it's pretty fun. I just wish they would add in a martial arts master, there's so much shit that boosts your damage and they even added one in the DLC but all I really want is at the very least one more punch added to punch combo.

One thing that really bothers me about this game is the inventory management. Every time I finish a level I get +50 new weapons/armor and I don't know what the fuck I am supposed to do with them.

I can't tell what items are worth keeping. Sometimes I get multiple purple quality armor that are about the same level but they have different skills. What skills am I supposed to be looking for? I think it's very confusing.

I try to summon every single dead guy with purple items I see so I can get new items, is it worth it? Sometimes it gets me killed
