I remember PS3 UNIEL lasted for a pretty long while. Six months after release I was still able to find rooms pretty easily, and I think someone in another thread said they fired it up recently and were able to get a ranked match relatively quickly.

I don't think this will die this fast anyway since there's not really any other anime fighters to compete with it at the moment. Rev 2 already lost a lot of steam and BB will most likely stay dead until the Jubei update.

He was a fairly popular character online in UNIEL for a couple of reasons. He was the only grappler for starters, so those type of players will naturally gravitate to him. He was also fairly low execution (although thats common for that archetype) so you could jump in quickly with him and never had to worry about being able to 720 for wins. And then he was high tier, probably top if we're talking about online play.

For UNIST, I think you'll see him a good bit less. Lots of people are putting him on the lower end of the lists, plus all the new characters people want to play. Same thing with Gordeau since he's nowhere near what he used to be.

But for the sake of your autism, just make sure you stay away from Wagner and Enkidu, those are the popular ones.

I haven't seen anything require the use of J.2C so I mostly find that as a new tool for opening people up. His more optimal stuff is fitting in 22A and plenty of his Force Functions in the corner. A few training mode combos definitely count.

In the original UNIEL I was mad butthurt because I'm a filthy pad player and Yuzu was almost impossible to get down even when I changed my button layout.

That's exactly why he can be recommended as a beginner character. It was the same with Akatsuki in UNIEL, having to dashblock through the fullscreen bullshit meant you learn to make do with less, and hoard for Vorpal all the time. I actually feel it's hard to make use Nanase's FF effectively, and she has just as much trouble getting in if you fight a character who won't let you spam fireballs.
