How peculiar that they wouldn't already know the outcome since the game is basically the same as the first installment, there wouldn't really be much to test. And for your information with a game like this, nothing drastically would change from beta to release.

The engine is nothing like the first. The first was limited to 30hz rendering, the second is unlocked (but consoles still lock at half frame rate and 60hz tick). That is one of plenty of small but important changes.
