The other US Stardust Speedway songs were just as great though and Tidal Tempest is better in the US soundtrack too. For the most part I prefer the JP soundtrack but the US one isn't too far behind. It's not bad, it's just different and adds an interesting atmosphere to the game. Every time I replay CD I always alternate between the two because it keeps things fresh.

Goddamn what a boring bunch of songs for the final zone. When I played the JP version years later and I got to Metallic Madness after years of playing the US version I came buckets. It was night-and-day.

I think they're both good.
I just prefer the impending kino atmosphere of the US track.
Shame it's such a short loop for such long levels though, that's the only thing that holds it back.

I don't like the OVA anymore, the animation actually looks kind of junky half the time, but I thought it was really cool when it was released on VHS at the time. Seemed like most people did. I'm pretty sure the only negativity around it was just the dub right?

On topic though, the animation in Sonic CD is still top notch shit and it was a different company/team than the OVA completely so why are we posting screenshots from the OVA?

I would have rather Sonic taken more of an anime Sonic CD/Sonic OVA turn during the late 90's early 2000's rather than the Modern GOTTA GO FAST Sonic that we got with Sonic Adventure.

No, I'm not shitting on your precious Sonic Adventure series. They were okay games. I'm not even the biggest anime fan, I just prefer the Sonic OVA style more.

I 100%ed Sonic Adventure 2 and at that point I realized I hate the new Sonic games. I lucked out by leaving early before developing my stockholm syndrome.

Then I started learning about game designers and paying attention to credits and realized with Hirokazu Yasuhara the series was never gonna be the same.

It also explains why the level design in Sonic CD tends to be pretty cut and paste and not exciting. Hirokazu didn't work on it.

But I think I might actually give Sonic Mania a try!

Collision Chaos has that vibe to it that implies that something is going to happen soon. That guitar riff in the background creeps me out and I dislike it. Is it called ambience? That freaks me out because of how it sounds.
I had bad memories of that zone since I was a kid. Collision Chaos' music is creepy to me because of that sense of gloom and dread coming from it.
