I've only played a bit of Banished a few years ago, so I don't remember too much about it, but from what I do recall, it has a really similar overall feel as Kingdoms and Castles. You build houses and collect resources to have your town grow. You manage roads and stockpiles, so the peasants have an easy time bringing necessary items (like food and charcoal) home or so they won't have to run across the whole town to get some water for putting out a fire. You need defenses in case of raids, which require money to build, so you need to tax your peasants. This in turn means you'll need to build things like churches and libraries to make them happier about their lives and keep them from leaving your town. It's all incredibly simple - easy to get into and easy to play through. The graphics work incredibly well for the game and that's really the main point of playing it in the first place - to chill for a bit and make your own cute little towns.

Pic related is the first town I made playing on peaceful mode. No real plan for it and it still ended up being pretty comfy and a fun experience building it in the first place.

op here, I'm on chapter 2 and I really like it so far.
it's a supernatural detective story, a crime unit tracking down a serial killer and wicked shit happens along the way.

Once you get past the prologue things get moving but first hour is pretty slow and unintuitive.

It's one of those slow burns where you gotta force yourself through a bit before you get into the swing of things.
I can see many dropping it really early if you have shit patience, it's definitely a very old and experimental game.

Friend is letting me borrow his PS4 while he's out and gave me some games to play. Decided to give it a whirl.

It's pretty boring in all honestly, I literally just after the part where you form the inquisition and I'm already tired of the game. I just don't find the combat enjoyable.

90% of the game is awful, but I have to say when you actually ignore all the sidequests and do the main missions they are actually pretty enjoyable. Like there are pockets of a good game hidden between a generic copy paste Ubisoft game with god awful combat, which is a shame. Can't even imagine playing it on a console without the must have quality of life mods like no pickup animation and no fucking mobile game style mission timers, Christ.
