Dude Tri was my first MH and I love it as it is but honestly 3U is superior in every way

Seeing the trailers for Monster Hunter World got me interested in the series. So I picked up MH4U, it's pretty fun, what does /v/ think about it, how does it compare to the rest of the series.

Gen was a big disapointment after 4U, it ads new gimicks with the styles and the arts that you may like but have in mind that they stay in Gen/XX and wonte get out of there. and lack of content cus no G rank and no high rank in ofline (XX fix alot of things wrong in Gen but is japan only so you need Custom Frimeware to play it and yes there is a translation)

Frontier is legitimately good and fun. Being a constantly updated experience without the issue of starting a new game with the next new title and having character progression perpetually maintained across a long term service makes for what's by far the most pristine hunting experience.

There is a bigger emphasis on evasion, I think that's the central difference. In mainline, you can get by without evasion+2 in just about any situation, but high level Frontier gameplay fucking needs it. Yes, this is due in part because Frontier is very aoe heavy. I still think it works out though, evading in general feels very rewarding in Frontier and can make for some adrenaline pumping hunts. Finally having both 1080p and a Playstation 3 controller has done wonders for my comfort level. Give Frontier enough time and you will never go back to the 3DS.
