Video's of the current work on the game has been released and the game looks aesthetically better.
The demo from last year played like every other Igarashi Castlevania game so people who payed into this got what they wanted so far.
And the 2017 E3 demo looks like more of the same just better looking.
I would call that improved.
We are only getting the base game without the Stretch goals come next year anyway. They are doing a Shovel knight typed release scheduled.
Don't expect your various game modes and playable characters for several months after release.

This is actually just connecting the dots. Inti is NOWHERE to be seen now. It's all Dico and Artplay now. So using that, and some other evidence, the conclusion is that Inti-Creates were fired from the project in Nov 2016 when those other two companies were hired.

That every Castlevania game his name is attached to plays roughly the same and that the bloodstained demo plays as such and the game was funded under the notion that the game would play as such.
So the only reason a person who payed money into this should be disappointed is that they personally don't care for the aesthetic the game is going for.

I didn't pay a dime but it looks fine to me. It doesn't look like it is going to be a colossus failure to me yet but it also doesn't look like it will be amazing to me yet either.
Game ain't finished. Just looks like Castlevania to me right now.

I said Igarashi Castlevania game. A specific thing.
Every Igarashi Castlevania game plays the same. He was the producer yes but it is much easier to catagorize these games as such at the moment because they all have this one person a part of them.
I can't just say Metroidvania because as close together as SotN and Super metroid are they don't share similar mechanics such as leveling, stats, or the same use of equipment. But every Castlevania game that had Igarashi as the producer has the same basic thing going for them. And Bloodstained follows suit.

No point wasting everyone's times debating pointless semantics when I'm only using the term temperamentally. Until you can come up with a much better term to describe a game that plays like every other Castlevania game produced by Igarashi then feel free to inform me.
Until then I will refer to them as Igarashi Castlevania games.

I was originally going to back it, but with all the bullshit that MN9 was going through at the time of the Bloodstained kickstarter + Inti-Creates being involved, I decided against it.

In hindsight, I feel like I made the right choice. I did like the original demo and I am planning on picking it up if it turns out OK, but Jesus this project has taken a turn for the worst.

They've always been called Metroidvania. Obviously they can't use the name Metroid, so they go with Igavania. As in Koji Igarashi, and the games most synonymous with Igarashi are Metroidvania games, because Igavania for marketing.

Crowdfunding isn't the problem. It's the washed up 90s devs who left their brains in the offices of their failed companies who're the problem. They can't do anything other then fuck up, this was the case for YEARS before KS was ever a thing. From Dust? Obsidian Entertainment? Anything involving Molyneux? Bioware? I can go on and on.

Well, pixel art is a lot different than 3d art and requires different skill sets, especially when you get to lighting, movement, that sort of thing. A team that's good at one may not necessarily be good at the other, and I think IGA (and to an even greater extent, Inafune) found that out the hard way :(

The worst news to come out of this game is that Inti-creates was going to make it when it was getting funded. and recently when they were aiming for a Shovel Knight type release schedule.
Every instance of news and rumors about the game afterwards only dissipated that dread.
Now that the rumor of Inti-Creates being fucking kicked the fuck out as of late last year and that the demos play like SotN and the GBA and DS castlevania games should make you far less skeptical about whether or not the game is shit.

The only reason someone would have to bitch about the game right now is the aesthetic. Which all I can say to you is fucking get over yourself. I dig the dollhouse/stage play aesthetic.

If you don't than that is your problem and not theirs or anyone else.
