Is this game worth buying into?

Don't buy anything from Epic. UTAlpha was abandoned and I bought a Paragon Faunder pack and the game hasn't seen anything worth a dick since the fucking alpha.

Epic is shitting games out and they're all as bad as the other.

On one hand there's an assload of progression which seems cool, on the other hand the game seems to be really easy and repetitive, like just waves and waves of non-threatening zombies for several missions at a time

I think above all else that's where they dropped the ball. If they're going to go that route they should at least make the gameplay more exciting, just look at warframe, most of the missions are so easy you'd have to be retarded to fail them or die in them but it's still extremely satisfying to kill shit with various frames and weapons.

I've heard people say it gets harder and more interesting at later levels but who really wants to sit through 5 - 10 hours of easy mode shit?

You can't build too much or you get penalized.
It's not very creative as a tower defense since enemies follow a strict path and destroy everything along the way. No tunneling.
I guess it's a passable shooter though.

Avoid this shit on principle.
Their founders packs are exploitative. They use that age old selling technique of making the rationally priced item weak as fuck, and then making the decent value item slightly expensive.

They only charge $40 for the basic pack, but that pack has fuck all in it. So for "only" 50% more you can have the REAL value pack.

And then there's a cascade of higher priced packs with even more shit in it. This design is intended to trick people into buying the $60 or even $80 packs by exploiting basic psychology.

Further, they don't tell you what half of what you're buying does! You don't know if the $150 pack will be an amazing deal after launch or if it's just trivial goodies. They obscure a lot of information about the game intentionally because an ignorant consumer is easier to bilk.

It's comparable to cable salesmen at your door trying to get you to sign up to switch service by telling you they'll fix any lag you have and improve your speeds for less money but keep wiggling out of telling you the real numbers they're promising.

This is ALL viciously anti-consumer.

Been playing it for the past 2 days. It's not very good. It's essentially just Warframe with building. Except it has less content, less variety of content and the pay to not grind in this game makes Warframe look cheap.

The entire game is doing the same few mission types on a randomly generated level. Except every mission ends up being the same (find a location, build a fort, defend an area).

The really worrying part however is the progress system the game uses. Outside of a few shitty quest rewards, the only way to make any actual progress and unlock new stuff is loot boxes. You get 2 quests a day, and if you do them both you get 1 loot box.
Outside of the story quests which will eventually run out, that is literally all the progress you can make a day unless you pay real money. One loot box that contains 5-10 random items.
